Oh God. My head is pounding. I hear voices.
"Tell us the truth you stupid little-"
"Shh, now now, Ali, no need to be harsh, he'll tell us eventually if he actually cares about my daughter, isn't that right, my lad?"
"What do you even want, huh? Because..."
I slowly open my eyes, no longer hearing the voices. Everything is blurred for a moment before coming into focus.
"doesn't deserve it," Louis finishes and I look at him. He is chained up across from me, and my dad and Ali are facing him, their backs to me. Perfect.
He has a furious look on his face.
I am tied up too, which isn't so good. I'm obviously not trusted anymore.
"Well, I don't care if she's Mrs. Innocent, I'm fed up of being nice, so I just want her and her mate to do something for me and then she can go live a happy life-forever or whatever," my dad says seriously, and I can see Louis's face as he processes what my dad has just said.
Shock crosses his face, then anger, then curiosity.
"What do you want from Summer?" he asks, and I hear my dad sigh.
"Well... it's complicated, but she needs to find her mate first. Together, they will be the strongest of vampire kind, and probably able to take over the world if they wanted to," he pauses for dramatic effect, before moving on,"so we need to find him, and soon, if my-- plans are to commence,"
"What plans?" Louis presses and my dad sighs. I can practically hear how annoyed he is by the way he sighed.
"I'm not telling you, now shut up. We need to wake Summer up,"
I guess this is my cue to wake up.
"Oh god, where am I? What time is it?" I fake confusion, and suddenly all eyes are on me.
"Glad to see you're awake, Summer, we just came up with a little plan to see if this young man--what's your name?" my dad turns to face Louis, who is smirking.
"Ben-Dover, it's one word" he says casually, smirking. Ali goes to correct him but my dad interrupts her. My dad turns back round to face me, not suspecting a thing.
"Alright, we want to see if Ben-Dover here is your mate," he says, and Louis bursts out laughing.
I stop myself from grinning.
"What is so funny?" he asks, suddenly annoyed.
"Master, if you please-" Ali begins but he cuts her off angrily.
"Enough, Ali! Be quiet! What is so funny?" he asks me again, this time a malicious grin on his face.
"Nothing," I say smiling.
"Okay, then. If you won't tell me... then I'll make you..." he trails off. He walks right up to me, putting his hands on his shoulders.
I look at Louis with a confused expression and see his mirrors mine.
Ali is standing behind, an evil smirk on her face.
"Dad? What are you doing?" I ask, and he shakes his head.
"Just a little test, don't worry. It doesn't hurt. Too much,"
I look at Louis who is giving me a worried look. I give him a reassuring smile.
He looks relieved.
Which doesn't last for long, because suddenly, my whole body is in agony. I think my dad is setting me on fire. I let out several screams, begging for him to stop.
Of course he doesn't.
The pain drags on for several minutes, until it is unbearable.
I can't see anymore. Everything is hazy.
I manage to open my eyes one last time to see Louis struggling ferociously against the chains that are keeping him captive.
I succumb to the darkness.
