"Alice?"

"Alice?"

"ALICE!"

My name was being called. I couldn't tell who said it though.

Flames.

Smoke.

I couldn't take any more.

I passed out again.

I opened my eyes and found myself in a bed. The bed had white sheets. The room I

was in was small. The walls were also white. I glanced around and saw a

young-looking woman in a lab coat standing next to the bed.

"She's awake," the woman spoke into some kind of walkie-talkie. The device was

also white, along with the lab coat. Where were the colors?

Before thinking about anything, I sat up and shouted in confusion, "What is this

place? Who are you? And what am I doing here?"

The woman said in an unchanging tone, "You have been laying here unconcsious,

ever since the Great Fires of 2012. An agent from BLI rescued you and brought

you here."

Suddenly I calmed down. The nice lady was here to help me. No need to ask questions.

"Your family was exterminated in the fires," she said, almost in an amused tone.

"The year now is 2013. You are safe with us at Better Living Industries." She

didn't exactly explain the place to me, but it seemed safe enough.

"Alright," I nodded in approval. I took the pills she supplied me. They must've

been sleeping pills, because I was really tired. I fell asleep instantly.
