Left Behind // Jake Virtanen

Chapter 2

I get into the black challenger still unsure if I should be doing go with them or not. But really what other choice do I have. So I hope in.

Jake starts up the car and I took a Pill in Ibiza was playing. Jake and Ben were chatting in the front seats and I sat in the back humming along with the song and thinking about what I was going to do next. It's not like I could actually spend the night at these guys house, can I?

"So this is my place" Jake says pulling into an underground parkade.

We don't say anything on our way up the elevator. Jake unlocks the door and lets me go in first.

"Welcome to my place" Jake says with a smile.

"Wow" I say shocked walking up to the window "This view is amazing."

"Yeah It one of the reasons why I got this place. Doesn't really matter what the weather is it always looks so beautiful."

I kept looking at the view with Ben while Jake was looking for something. He came back with a phone charger in his hand.

"Here you go there is an outlet right over there."

"Thank you" I say plugging my phone in. While waiting for a charge I look around the room.

"I'm going to go home now Virts" Ben says with a huge smile.

Jake and Ben do a handshake hug. "See you later Hutts."

Ben shuts the door behind him and it's just Jake and I left. We stay standing still for a while awkwardly until my phone buzzes back to life. I pick up my phone and call Jasper but he doesn't answer. Next I call my mom and I told her that I lost Jasper and Raquel and that they both are not answering their phones but I was going to spend the next with Jake and he was going to bring be back in the morning.

"Wait, who is Jake? Are you sure you are okay? I'm coming out there to get you." Mom's voice is shaking.

"No mom, I'm fine. I'm at his apartment right now but I still have no idea where my friends are."

"Please be careful Kelsey. Call me as soon as you wake up in the morning."

"Yes mom I will. Love you. Good night."

"Love you to sweetie." I hang up the phone turning around seeing Jake in the kitchen pouring two drinks.

"I hope you like blackberry apple juice" Jake says pushing a glass towards me.

"I never had it before but I will give it a try." I say taking a sip "Oh wow this is really good."

"I know it's my favourite drink right now" Jake smiles at me.

I look at the pictures on the mantel. Most of them are family pictures but one was a hockey picture. It was Jake at the world Juniors with Team Canada when they won the Gold Medal. Holy Shit this is Jake Virtanen like from the Vancouver Canucks. I knew I knew him from somewhere!

"Are you Jake Virtanen, like from the Canucks?" I ask.

"Yes I am" He says looking at the picture.

"I thought I recognized you." I checked the time on my phone it was 2:38AM. No wonder why I could hardly keep my eyes open anymore.

"Think it might be time we try to sleep. My guest room is right through those doors." Jake points behind me. "My room is right over there if you need me. Good night."

"Thank you Jake for letting me stay the night. Good Night" I say just before I head over to the guest room.

The room is small just barely fits the bed in it, but at least I get to sleep in a bed tonight. It could be worse like sleeping on his couch, which doesn't look comfy at all, or on a park bench. This is much better and I also have life on my phone again.

I pull my jeans off and crawl under the covers, falling asleep right away.
