Tommys POV
I didn't see Adam for the last lesson, Katie refused to answer any questions and glared at me the whole lesson. I was glad when the class ended, my class filed out as the principal looked round the door. "Can I borrow you?" he asked, "sure" I replied pushing back from my desk and following him into his office. Adam looked up just long enough to tell he had been crying as he looked away his eyes falling to his lap. One hand was covered in blood as I gasped quietly, "sit" the principal said as I sat next to adam who stiffened slightly.
"I should imagine youre wondering why ive brought you here mr Ratliff" he said, "of course" I replied hoping no one had told him about mine and adams relationship. "Was adam meant to be in your class last period?" he asked as I let out a sigh or relief. "Yes, he was but he was meant to be in the library studying" I answered lying through my teeth. "One of the teachers found him, surrounded by glass" he told me. "Really? What happened?" I questioned, "we believe he smashed a mirror" he replied.
"Well if that's how he cut up his hands than you shouldn't be keeping him here, he should be at the hospital it might have glass in" I protested. "He will once his parents get here" he replied, I looked down at the deep cut blood coming from it. "How long will that be?" I said, "an hour or so. "Oh really and in that time he'll have bled to death, screw that i'll take him " I decided. Adam stayed silent as he caught my gaze and looked away. "Ok take him, but hes got detention for a month" he told me. "Im sure he will gladly do that wont you adam" I said as he nodded.
"Come on then" I answered standing, he stood and followed me quietly like a shadow. I unlocked my car and he climbed in as I wrapped a scarf round his hand. "So why did you smash the mirror?" I asked pulling into the traffic. He shrugged not answering my question, I sighed. "Im sorry all I seem to be doing is upsetting you. I cant do anything right at the moment, with anyone" I muttered. He stayed silent as we pulled into the road where the hospital was. "Who cut your face?" he asked quietly, "it doesn't matter" I replied.
"It does to me, I smashed the mirror because I was pissed off. Did your 'girlfriend' do that?" he asked. "It was an accident" I answered, "right ok then" he replied. "What?" I questioned, "why do you stay with her?" he asked. I shrugged "theres a baby involved now I cant be a deadbeat like my own dad" I told him. "Hmm" he said as I parked, "right lets go" I said. "I can go myself you know" he protested, "stop arguing come on" I replied as he shook his head and we went inside.
We sat and waited as a lady with dark brown hair came running in flanked by a man with greying hair. "Adam honey are you ok?" the woman asked wrapping her arms round adam who shifted uncomfortably. "Im fine mom its just a scratch" he replied as she put his hand on her lap, "a scratch this needs looking at now" she answered her gaze falling to me. "WHo are you?" she asked, "mom this is my teacher mr Ratliff" adam answered as I smiled. "Hi" I said, the man shook my hand. "Thank you for bringing my son here sorry about her" he told me gesturing to his mom shouting at the receptionist, "oh it was no problem. I'll leave you to it. See you at school adam" I replied as I smiled and left.
I climbed into my car and looked down at my phone, angry texts from liz, saying she knew I was with another girl. Telling me to get my ass home, I turned it off throwing it in my bag and stepped on the gas speeding towards town. I wasn't going to bother going home, let her do whatever the fuck she wants. I decided to go meet some friends instead, I walked into the bar as my old college friends smiled. "Hey long time no see TJ, where the heck have you been?" amy said kissing my cheek.
"Oh you know liz" I replied, "whats wrong super bitch got you on a tight leash?" Adele asked. "Hasn't she always, I might find better people to spend time with" I commented as we sat down. "So whats new Tommy?" noah asked sipping his beer. I shrugged "not much liz is pregnant apparently" I commented, "really you knocked her up? Ooooh you dirty dog you" he said. "That's the thing, we haven't had sex in months. And I haven't seen the test, I just had to take her word for it" I explained.
"So what do you think? Shes cheated on you or shes lying?" amy questioned. "I don't know, that's the thing. She knows I don't wanna be with her, maybe shes trying to make me stay" I commented. "That's crazy though" noah answered, "you don't get any crazier than her" I replied. "Still that's really fucked up" adele commented, "shes fucked up anyway lets party!" I said as they cheered.
