CHAPTER 15: THE ELECTIONS

KATE’S POV

“Grabe talaga kanina! Haha! Muntik na akong atakihin! Akala ko mabubuko na tayo!” – Sabi ni Micah pagkaupo namin sa table. Nandito kami nagyon sa cafeteria. Dito kami umupo sa may dulo kung saan walang makakarinig sa amin. Mahirap na.

Pinagtitinginan nga kami eh. Nagtataka siguro sila kung bakit dito kami umupo at hindi doon sa usual seat namin which is sa may gitna ng cafeteria. We’re quite popular po kasi ;)

“OA lang, bee?! Haha! Buti pa ako, I had no worries kanina!” – Anne who smirked at Micah.

“Yeah! I noticed the two of you ahh! Parang you don’t care lang!” – Anne na nag-lean pa sa table para matignan ang dalawa.

 “Yeah! Halos di kami mapakali dahil baka kung ano mangyari pa sa atin, tapos kayo..” – Dia trailed off. While Anne and Mitch winked at each other. Okay. Ang gulo nila >.<

“Well, we took care of everything na kasi before you worry pa. Can you see a single proof of what we did dito sa school?? Wala, right? It’s because I took care of it na.” – Anne smiled at us.

“Okay. Eh how ‘bout the phone? Akala ko hindi na ibabalik yun??” – Kaye asked.

“I slid it in her bag na kanina before we leave to talk with Ms. Nadine. Mahirap na, baka makita pa yun sa atin. And if you’re going to ask about the fingerprints, don’t worry. It’s clean na. Wala nang makakaalam ng nangyari kagabi.” – Mitch smirked at us.

“That’s awesome!” – Pinuri ko naman sila. Haha! Galing *o*

“So, all we have to do is to forget na tayo ang gumawa no’n! Para wala nang makaalam.” – We all agreed with Hannah. Mabuti na din yun. :))

And parang on cue, pumasok sila Claire sa entrance ng caf. And nakatingin sila sa amin ng masama. Oh well. Kawawa naman sila. Haha.

3 WEEKS LATER

“Gosh! Kinakabahan ako!” – Sigaw ko habang inaayos ang uniform ko. Nandito kami ngayon sa CR. Kasalukuyan kaming nag-aayos ni Jae, Micah, Nouelle and Hannah.

“Wag ka nga dyan! Bilisan niyo na lang! Mag-start na daw in 15 minutes!” – Si Kaye na tinulungan na ako sa uniform ko. Yung iba naman tinutulungan na din mag-ayos nung iba. Ngayong hapon na kasi yung debate for the Student Body Officers. And I’m running for the President, kalaban ko si Bea for that position. Bukas naman ng morning is yung voting, and sa hapon daw i-aannounce yung mga winners.

On my team are Jae (Secretary), Micah (Treasurer), Jeremy (Auditor) Hannah (Business Manager) and Nouelle (4th year representative) and the rest is from the other year levels na. Syempre I picked the best team na. And it’s a tradition na dito here in SFH na kailangan mag-debate ng two teams for their respective positions. And that’s what’s going to happen in 15 minutes. Habang nag-aayos, minememorize ko na rin yung speech ko for later.

After 15 minutes, the debate started. It is held at the Gymnasium. May platform sa gitna. Dun mag-stay yung MC. Tapos on each side of the platform is a table for both teams. My team stayed in the left side of the platform.

Yung first part ng debate is yung speeches of the candidates for each position. Nauna pero yung mga nasa lower positions. Todo cheer naman yung mga Bees namin who were at the crowd na nasa tapat ng platform. Yung iba naman is supporters din nung kabilang team.

And nung tinawag na yung President from the other team, which is si Bea, marami din namang nag-cheer sa kanya. Lalo na yung mga kasama niyang bruha. Medyo friendly din kasi siya. Bale, 30% friendly and 70% plastic yan! Haha!

“And, honestly, we think, and WE COULD, do BETTER THAN THE OTHER TEAM. We could handle this Administrative Year of the Student Body. So.. that’s all. Thank you and please vote for us!” – She smiled and waved at the audience like a retard! Gahd! Is she being funny now?! BETTER?! I doubt that.

After her speech, nagsigawan yung mga supporters niyang plastic din, lalo na yung mga ibang bruha! Tss! Tapos may mga iba pa akong narinig na nag-boo! sa kanya! Hah! Buti nga sa kanya!

Pagkaupo niya sa seat niya, tinawag naman na ako nung MC which is yung teacher namin sa Economics. She smiled at before handing the mic to me. I smiled back naman and started my speech. Sigawan naman yung supporters ko including my Bees! Haha! That’s why I love them! :))

“So, yeah. As I’ve said earlier, I won’t promise anything. But I know that I could do the responsibilities of a President in the Student Body Organization. I can and I would do everything to make our organization be very useful in this school. So, thank you for lending me your ears and giving me a chance to tell you my intentions in joining this organization! And please vote for those who deserve to be in their respective positions only!” – And that’s how I ended my speech. I gave them my sweetest smile. Nagsigawan at nagpalakpakan naman ang karamihan. And before returning to my seat, I sincerely smiled at Bea na nakatingin ng masama sa akin.

Sa second part nung event is yung mismong debate. For each position, mag-dedebate ang candidates for each team and after nila, the MC will acknowledge one question from the students or crowd na kailangan i-answer ng each candidate for 1 minute.

After nung debates nung mga nasa lower positions, nag-start na yung sa amin ni Bea. Pumwesto kami ni Bea sa may gitna. Nagbunutan kami kung sino ang unang magtatanong sa amin. And lucky for her, sya ang una.

AFTER 1 HOUR

“Gosh! Pagod na ako! Saan ba kasi tayo pupunta??!” – I asked them habang inaayos yung mga gamit ko. Kakatapos lang nung debate and here we are at the classroom.

“Can you just shut up and fix your things na lang?! Bilisan mo, baka madami nang tao dun!” – Mitch who was putting eyeliner on. Ugh. Palagi naman.

“Inaayos ko na nga oh?! Where in the hell are we going ba kasi??! Pwede bang kayo na lang?! May quiz pa tayo tomorrow! I still need to—“ – Nouelle cut me off by putting one finger on my lips.

“Study?!! Gahd, Kate! Masyado ka nang matalino! We know you can ace off the quiz! Tara na!!” – Nouelle

“But—“ – Ugh. Why do they love cutiing me off?!

“No buts, my dear sister. Kami ang bahala sa’yo. Tara!!” – Kaye winked at me. Tapos kinladkad na nila ako. Okay. I had no choice.

After a few minutes, nakarating kami sa entrance ng Bistro ni Kuya Carl.

“Ugh. What are we doing here?! Kaye, don’t tell me namimiss mo sya ah?! OMG!” – I gasped. Could it be possible?! In love na ang dear sister ko kay Kuya Carl?!

“Oh shut up, Kate! That will never gonna happen! We’re here to celebrate, bitch.” – Kaye glared at me.

“To celebrate what?!” – I asked them obviously confused.

“Your victory, remember?! Ikaw na ang President!” – Dia gave me a tap on my back.

“So in-assume niyo na talaga?!” --  =__= Poker face lang naman po ako.

“Teka, ikaw kaya dyan ang assumera!?” – Hannah who looked at me from head to foot. Binatukan ko naman sya.

“Oh well.” – Tumakbo na ako at inunahan sila sa loob. *wink*
