"I want extra patrol at all of the outer edges and corners of the territory," I ran my finger around the border lines on the map in front of me and my pack members nodded in understanding. "I also want to know exactly how we came to be under siege by the god damn White Lightning Pack?"
Tom, one of my older advisers who was probably in his late 40's but the head of security in my pack looked at me with shame on his face, "I take responsibility, Alpha. There was a slip up with the patrol schedule."
I furrowed my brows, "It was a one time thing?" He nodded. I pursed my lips, even more upset now. If it was a one-time honest mistake, how the hell did Jeremy and the rest of his pack manage to capitalize on it so quickly? The only thing that I could think of is that there was a rat in our midst, a spy, providing information to him. And that was way worse than having just been overcome by his forces. Sighing, I looked back at Tom, "It's fine, so long as it never happens again. And Tom? Keep the plans and schedules on the DL, I don't need it getting out to any other packs who see as as vulnerable right now."
He nodded and bowed his head in respect, "Yes Alpha."
With a wave of my hand, everyone save Jamie dispersed and I sighed, running a hand down my face. He came up next to me, "What's wrong?"
"We have a rat in our midst," I responded.
He noticeably stiffened, his voice dropping low and quiet, "Do you know who?"
I shook my head, "No. All I know is that if this truly was a one time slip up, it was planned and it was arranged so that White Lightning could attack."
Jamie sighed, "Well shit."
"No kidding," I fell back into my chair, "Not only that, but Jeremy said he's making a deal with Alpha James. With their pact, we'll be completely surrounded by them, no way out without a lot of blood being spilled on both sides. I don't want that, that's what my father would've wanted. I'm not him."
"I know you're not," He replied, setting his hand on my shoulder and running his thumb in circular motions. Normally, this is where I would turn around, kiss him and let him take me right here and now on my desk. But this was no normal day. I had found my mate, been attacked and threatened by my mate and was now forced to make defense plans against him. And to make matters worse, I was hardly even remotely attracted to Jamie anymore. It's a damn shame, especially considering how good looking he is. As if reading my mind, he spoke, "You don't feel anything for me anymore, do you?"
I looked away from him and down to the maps in front of me, "No, I guess I don't."
"We both knew this day would come," He shrugged, although he removed his hand from my shoulder, leaving it colder than it was before.
Nodding, I said, "Yeah. We did. I just think we didn't want it to happen, so we pretended like it wouldn't. I mean, it was stupid, fucking around like that. We have mates for a reason."
He gave a stiff "yeah" before leaving me alone in my office, glaring at the maps in front of me. Letting out a strangled cry of rage, I swept everything off of my desk and onto the ground, along with all of the maps and plans.
I knocked back several glasses of whiskey, burning the whole way down. I don't know why, I don't even like whiskey. My father did though, more than he loved my mother I think. Yelling, I threw the glass across the room as it shattered against the bookcase wall. Stupid father, stupid Alpha mate Jeremy thing, stupid Jamie, stupid everything! Breathing deeply, I felt a sting in my hand and looked down to see a glass shard sticking out of it. Snarling, I yanked it out and dropped it on the now clear desk. Stupid glass.
Just then, a phone started ringing. Kicking things around on the floor, I finally found it and picked it up with my non-bleeding hand, answering with a stiff, "Hello?"
"How did I know that you would be the one to end up answering?" Came his voice from the other end. He was bemused and I could practically hear that fucking annoying, arrogant little smirk that he wears all the time. "Well, it's perfect actually. Why don't you get your little Alpha in the room, too, so he can hear the news I have?"
"I'll relay the message," I bit.
He chuckled, "Fine, fine. I just wanted to let you know that Alpha James and I have come to an agreement. Should any single member of our packs even be touched by one of yours, we will declare unconditional, total war upon your pack. And there will be no survivors, not even you or your Alpha Chandler or your mother that you fought so hard for."
I stood in silence for a moment, absorbing what he just said. Narrowing my eyes as his threat to my pack set it and I growled lowly, "Well I just wanted to let you know that if either one of your packs gets even a little too close for comfort to my pack borders, we will have our warriors there to rip them to shreds, starting with the legs so you can't run away, then the arms so you can't fight back and lastly, your heads, but slowly, so that you feel every single ounce of pain you deserve. And then, I'll mail back each body part individually until you get the whole body back eventually. Have I made myself clear? Stay the hell away from my pack!"
There was a silence from the other end, and I couldn't hear anything but my ragged breathing from my outburst. Despite how ridiculous and outrageous and gory my threat was, I fully intended to stick by my word. Should any scouts or spies get close enough, I will rip them to shreds.
Deciding to break the silence myself, I spoke one last time, "Oh, and I highly recommend that you get your little spy out of my territory, or else they will be the first body I send back to you piece by piece."
With that, I hung up, slamming down the phone and sitting down in my chair. This whole situation is just spinning way out of control. But it's okay, I suppose. I've never really been all that good and controlling myself anyways.
