7: Bridge of Spies

It's been about 20 minutes since my phone conversation with Jeremy and I've hardly cooled down. My blood was still boiling and my vision was still slightly blurred with spots of dark pink and red. My wolf had nearly taken over, I was so pissed. I mean, how dare he threaten my pack? After he attacked us? Under any normal circumstances, I would've marched my way into his territory and decapitated him by now. But alas, this is nowhere near a normal situation.

No, instead the bastard that I'm currently dealing with just so happens to be my mate. Lovely.

And to make things even better, there was a knock at the door. I growled, "What?"

Jamie poked his head through, "I know I'm one of the last on the list of people you'd like to see right now, but I figured I'd come up and do damage control."

"What damage?" I sarcastically bit back, rolling my eyes. He scoped out the room, taking in the destruction that I had caused not even an hour earlier. Papers and maps were still strewn all over the floor, along with a bottle of whiskey, glass shards and a now broken telephone. As I said, Jeremy really pissed me off.

He sighed, "So, what's the news?"

I let out a dry chuckle, "Jeremy and James are playing right now. You see, they called to threaten us, to threaten me! He said, that if one of us even touches one of them, they'll launch a total war upon us, leaving no survivors."

Pursing his lips, he nodded, "I see. And what did you say?"

"The truth," I ground out, "That if he wants to play, I'll play. If any of their pack members so much as edges a little too close to our borders, I'll have them ripped to shreds limb by limb and shipped back separately until the eventually get the whole corpse back. That's my word and I plan to stand by it."

"Anything else I should know?" He questioned, with a little edge, obviously not too happy with my selection of a threat. He was disappointed, I could tell, he's not exactly one for too much violence. Honestly, it may as well be the reason I selected him as my beta. He countered me, created a balance. And now that I didn't have him, I was completely unsteady.

I nodded, "I want to find the mole."

"How do you plan on doing that exactly?"

Smirking, I stood up, "Call together a pack meeting. I do believe I have a speech to make."

Within 15 minutes the whole pack was assembled in the backyard of the pack house, the injured in wheelchairs, and some silently crying as the wept for those who gave up their lives fighting this morning. Letting out a quick breath, I greeted them, "Good afternoon."

Everyone bowed their head in respect to their Alpha.

"This morning was a tragic incident that should have never happened. To those of you who sit here today, wounded, I thank you for your protection. I thank those of whom we have lost today, who sacrificed their lives for the rest of our safety. I thank you all for remaining loyal," I put special emphasis on the word 'all', and scanned the crowd looking for any guilty or nervous expressions until I found one. A young wolf, probably only 17, looking down with his brows creased in concentration.

I continued, "However, we cannot move forward without someone being held responsible. It has come to my attention that the White Lightning pack invaded us in a momentary state of weakness, during a one-time slip up in our security. Now, how, might you be wondering, did they find out about this and act on it so quickly? The answer is simple. We have a traitor in our midst."

At this, the boy's head snapped up and he met my gaze, fear in his eyes but the rest of his face composed of stony resolve. Admirable. Dumb, but still admirable nonetheless. Hushed whispers went up, people concernedly looking around, trying to spot the traitor for themselves. I held up a hand, effectively silencing everyone within seconds.

"To the spy, the rat, the mole, whatever you wish to call yourself, I will give you one chance to come forward and confess your crimes. Or else there will be no mercy for you," I stated monotonously, without any extra edge or emotion. It was more like I was giving a factual statement than anything, and I could see the boy's resolve deteriorating. He stepped forward and many gasps went up, and the outcries began.

"Traitor!"

"You filthy piece of shit!"

"Worthless!"

"Rot in hell!"

He came before me and lowered himself onto one knee, "Alpha, I wish to confess my crimes."

"Go on," I nodded stiffly.

"I, Edward G. Sullivan, confess to my crimes of treason against you, Alpha Chandler, and the rest of the Fallen Pack," He stated, "I provided private information to Alpha Jeremy of the White Lightning Pack. I hereby accept any and all consequences and punishments that should come my way for this action."

I stepped down from the deck and stood in front of him, "I, Alpha Chandler Romani of the Fallen Pack, hereby strip you of your title as Delta of the Fallen Pack and banish you to live out your life as a rogue without a pack."

He bowed his head down and as he moved to stand up, I pushed his head down at the same time I brought my knee up, breaking his nose. He stumbled backwards, blood gushing out of his nose. Surprise was evident on his face. He growled, lunging at me, but I threw him back with ease, and he landed on his back. I could hear the gush of wind that left his lungs as he momentarily struggled to catch his breath.

Slapping him with my claws elongated, I left four deep scratches across his cheek. I grabbed him by the collar of his shirt and lifted him up towards me, only to repeatedly punch him in the face until nearly every spot on it was broken, swollen, and/or bloodied. Throwing him to the ground I stood up and walked away for a moment before looking back at him, "Stand up."

He didn't move.

Growling, I roared, "I said stand up!"

Edward struggled to his feet, staggering and swaying as he did so. I scowled at him with distaste, hatred evident on my face. I took in a deep breath before I finally made my decision, "Look at me, Edward." He did. "I'm not going to kill you. Not today, at least. Instead, I'll use you for a message."

He gave me a confused look through all of the swelling and blood.

"You will go to Alpha Jeremy and make it perfectly clear to him that you are the one and only warning he will get," I state clearly and he nodded, "And then you will tell him only two words from me: Game On."

He nodded and I growled, "Now, run!"

And he did. He took off sprinting, and I looked up to see the rest of the pack still standing there, some with happy expressions, others with awe and some with disappointment that he didn't die at my hands. I lifted my chin as I addressed them, "You are all free to go, thank you."

Once again, they all bowed their head in respect before dispersing, almost everyone talking about Edward. Some of his friends crying for not realizing. I'd have to investigate them later, as well.

Jamie came up to me, smiling, "I'm proud of you. You didn't kill him and rip him limb from limb."

I looked at him, with heat burning in my eyes, "I didn't kill him because I needed him. I promise you the next person to cross me will lose their heads, literally and figuratively. Okay?"

"Yeah," He nodded, looking down.

"Good," I replied in a clipped tone before walking away, leaving him standing in the clearing alone.

a/n: Holla! It's me back again with another update... crazy, right?? anywho as usual there's a gif of Chandler to the side and a song that I feel like is her theme song tbh, it's Wicked Ways by Eminem.

QOTD: Should I do the next chapter in Jeremy's view or should I just leave it consistently in Chandler's point of view?
