-12 YEARS LATER-

Alex was going to high school at Lake Morgan High. He was a Senior with nothing more on his mind more than, graduation day. That's the only thing he was really looking forward to. He didn't have many friends because, He wasn't exactly a nice guy. He was just that bitter guy that shows up to class and sits in the same seat every day. He would doze off most of the time in class, but he memorized the chapters and homework was easy.  The girls weren't really 'all over' Alex they honestly hated him. If someone was going to talk to him it was probably because He told the truth to someone who was used to only hearing little happy lies. Or someone wanted him to change his opinion to be more like theirs. He was the background guy. Just to play an extra in somebody else's story. That's what he thought anyway. He never did stop seeing these lost souls. They would talk to him. They would be better to him than the people in this... He didn't quite know how to put it but there was a sort of glass wall between the people of where the living people are, but the glass was fogged up on one side so that only certain people could see through. Alex at the moment was skipping class. He was in the bathroom smoking a cigarette. His best friend sitting next to him on the other side of the glass. Their voice though if you could hear it,was like there was a wall of water between them. Alex felt like they were hearing the same thing. He wondered if all Wraiths could see and hear people like not all humans could see or hear them. Maybe this is why sometimes when houses are haunted, the ghost doesn't seem aware of the other people living there. Alex's best friend was a Junior when he died. His name was Nicholas Irvin. He was from France but moved here when he was 14. He learned English rather quickly and he was also the reason Alex had learned French. Alex had taken 2 years of french. Nicholas was one of Alex's only friends.
"You should probably get going the bell's going to ring in 2 minutes" Nicholas said
"I might actually stay for about 30 minutes. Mom'll think I had detention." Nicholas looked at him like he'd done something seriously wrong
"Please just go. Alex I'll be here in the morning. I'll see you then." Alex rolled his eyes. He wanted to sit there and talk to Nicholas for hours.
"Fine. I'm skipping the first 20 minutes of first period so when they close down it'd be great if you would grab me a few slips, I'm out. " The bell rang loud echoing deep in Alex's head.
"Bye Alex. Thank you for the book. I'll see you tomorrow." Alex swung his backpack in habit over his shoulder.
"Yep. I might bring a couple decks of cards as long as you don't tell anyone and ruin my rep." Alex laughed walking out. Nobody used that bathroom. Mainly because there was no way to get in. It was boarded off because there was a murder in it years ago. Once they solved it the room never did work, the water would run out blood and the toilets never flushed, The mirrors would get fogged up if you looked at them. Yep that was due to Nicholas. Alex had gone in there for the first time crawling through an old crawl space under the stage. He pushed some ply wood out of his way and it lead to a sort of changing room for plays That's where He started going to let loose after he was made fun of. That's how he met Nicholas. He'd bring him things to do. Like the book, A box of cards once. His 3ds and a whole lot of games. He ended up stealing his brother's cause he never used it. Alex crawled out closing the piece of ply wood and out the door locking it behind him. He walked home that day coming home a little later than his brother.
"No detention today?" His mom asked
"It's kinda hard to get in trouble when you hide in a closet all day." She sighed
"Alexander! You can't do these things!" He nodded and walked past her wiping her long hair away from her face.
"Sorry ma' It's who I am" She nodded
"I know you think that right now, but honey. You really need to try to be a better person."  He nodded and shuffled into the kitchen opening the fridge.
"Ma' I'm doing the best that I can" She sighed
"You are to much like your father." He smiled at her. That sent him to the image of his father in the car
"I'm going to my room" She nodded watching him jog up the stairs. He passed his brothers room and went into his own little world, reading a book.
