"Knock, knock" Jack said as he softly rapped on the doorway to the kitchen.
"Hey, come in." Maria turned to empty the noodles into the strainer. "Shit, Ouch" Maria gripped her burned arm.
"Maria are you ok? Here let me see."
"I-I'm fine" Maria turned away clutching her arm to her chest.
"No, you're not, let me see." Jack lightly grabbed an arm and pulled up her sleeve, "What the hell is this?" Jack said while he ran his fingers over the fresh bruises imprinted on her fair skin.
"I-I u-um.." Maria tried to find her words when the door suddenly slammed open.
"Maria! Maria! Where are you, you little bitch?"
"Jack, go, get out if she sees you here she'll-" Maria was cut off by the kitchen door slamming open.
"There you are,you stupid little-" Savannah was cut short when she noticed Jack standing next to Maria "What the hell is he doing here? Get the fuck out of my house."
"I hate to inform you, May I call you Vannah?" Jack started.
"No" Savannah interrupted, unamused.
"I will anyhow, Vannah, but, according to the will, the house was left to the both of you." Jack smirked while Savannah glared at him.
"I think it's time for you to fucking leave."
"Jack, you should go. Please?" Maria whispered to her friend with worry in her eyes.
"Fine, but only because you asked." Jack kissed the top of her head "Stay safe." He whispered into her ear and proceeded to walk out the door. As he left the house he heard muffled screams and crying coming from inside the house. He started back to his house, Now it's time to return to my hell. He thought when he entered his home. He ducked as a beer bottle barely missed his head.
"Where the fuck have you been?" His father yelled as he proceeded to smack Jack across the face.
Maria. I promise someday we will both get out. Hopefully alive.
