The bell ran signaling the end of the school day. Maria tossed her belongings into her dull green locker and slammed it shut. She proceeded out of the doors of the school, the afternoon sun warmed the red heads skin as she stepped out into the fresh air breathing it in. The ground was slightly damp as she began to walk her usual path home avoiding the occasional puddle. Listening to her music Maria felt a hand tap lightly on her shoulder, in agitation she removed the small buds from her ears and turned around.

"Mind if I walk with you princess." Gabriel said with his famous grin imprinted upon his flawless features.

"I don't see why not." Maria stated shrugging her shoulders. "So what brought you to Wellspring?"

"Seemed like a decent town filled with decent people. So why not give it a try?" Gabriel said stepping around a puddle. Maria scoffed.

"Decent town? Decent people? Wow, we must keep the veil over this place on pretty well huh."

"What do you mean?" Gabriel questioned with immense curiosity in his voice.

"Here in Wellspring, everyone has a secret. A picture perfect town by day, but, when dusk falls everyone's secrets come out." Maria looked to the ground remembering her own secrets she had been hiding.

"So, You said everyone had a secret. Do you have any secrets of your own?"

"You see if i told you, it wouldn't be a secret." Maria chuckled.

"Touché." Gabriel returned the chuckle followed by a soft smile.

The pair continued down Maria's street until they reached a big blue house with a lakeside view. "Well this is my stop." Maria said pulling her keys from her bag.

"Oh really? Hmm looks like we're neighbors." Gabriel chuckled while pointing to the grey house to the right of Maria's blue one. "I guess I'll see you another time then?" Gabriel suggested while beginning to turn around.

"Sounds good to me." Maria said while turning towards her white door.

"Hey, um Maria?" Gabriel said swiftly turning around.

"Yes?" Maria said curiosity filling her voice.

"Same time tomorrow Princess?" Gabriel winked and flashed her a bright smile.

"I'd love that." Maria smiled back and headed inside. Locking the door behind her, knowingly locking herself in hell. She walked through the wooden halls hearing nothing except the sound of her feet hitting the floor. She stopped to turn to a picture hanging in the hall it depicted a happy family with a happy life. A life that she never knew. And a life she would never know. She stood there listening to the deafening silence that filled her ears, as soon as the lock on the door clicked she knew her hell was about to begin.
