There he is.
Matt. Logan. Kanders (I've willingly found out his middle name because of so much stalking on all of his social media).
In all of his glory.

I've just realized that I haven't even told you what Matt looks like! Silly me!
Matt is the cutest boy in school. He's the captain and quarterback of the school's football team (the Canflick Cardinals) and is the salutatorian (whew, what a word! But I, Kayla Greenfeld, am, obviously, the valedictorian). Some of you may be wondering what a valedictorian and a salutatorian are. A valedictorian is the highest-scoring graduate of his or her class. A salutatorian is the second highest-scoring graduate of his or her class. Now that we have that crossed off of the things that I need to explain to you, I can finally tell you what Matt looks like.

"Kayla? Are you alright?," Mrs. Twinge asks me, full of concern, seeing as I'm not paying attention.

"Yes, Mrs. Twinge. Just a little zoned out, that's all," I told her.

"Kayla, will you come into the hall with me for a second?," Mrs. Twinge asked me.

"Sure?," I told her, sounding more like a question than a statement.

We walked out into the hall, only to see that Principal Darmes and Coach Miles were walking toward us.

After a minute or two of waiting for Darmes and Miles to get all the way down the hall, Mrs. Twinge spoke up, "Miles, would you care to explain why us four have met in this very hallway?"

Coach Miles happily replied, "Sherry (Mrs. Twinge), Ron (Principal Darmes), and I have brought you out here because we would like to ask you a few questions."

"What kind of questions?," I asked, voice full of curiosity.

"Questions about all kinds of things!," Ron Darmes spoke enthusiastically, with a slight tinge of an emotion I couldn't quite decipher.  "So," Principal Darmes says, "if you would very kindly join Mrs. Twinge and I in my office so we can speak more formally."

"Coach Miles will be staying with the class for a while whilst we talk," Mr. Darmes says.

"Off we go!," Mrs. Twinge says, attempting, but failing, at trying to make me feel less uneasy about the situation.

So, I'm currently in Principal Darmes's office, waiting for Mrs. Twinge to be done using the restroom.

"Kayla," Mr. Darmes finally says after Mrs. Twinge comes back and gets situated.
"Yes?," I say, looking up from my diary that I bring everywhere.

"We would like to discuss some questions that we've been wanting to ask you for a while now," Mrs. Twinge states, with a sense of concern in her voice.
"Mrs. Twinge and some other teachers have been noticing you zone out quite a lot due to that diary—"
"You can't read it," I said, clutching my diary tighter; closer to my chest.
"We don't want to read it, Kayla. We are concerned that things are going on at home that you aren't telling anyone. We are concerned that you have nobody to open up to. Due to that, one day, you will get angry and have a nervous breakdown," said Mrs. Twinge, clearly feeling hurt, "so, we've decided to have someone other than you from the yearbook committee come and help you open up a bit more."

"Matthew, you can come in now!"

"Yes, Mrs. Twinge!" Matt slowly opens the door and says, "Hey,—uh—"
"Kayla," I add.
"Right! Kayla! Er— how are you?," Matt cautiously adds.
"I'm fine," I sneered, making it clear that I'm annoyed.

"Why so annoyed?," Matt adds, jumping onto the loveseat that I'm sitting upon.
"Er... Maybe because all the teachers (who have left at this point) are interrogating me!," I shout, standing up, frightened at how loud I was. I could hear murmurs of satisfaction, probably excited that I'm about to open up to this boy I'd barely even spoken to before.

"Hun, by the looks of it, you need to tell me what's going on," Matt says, grabbing my hand and pulling me down onto the loveseat so we're facing each other.

"It's been so hard," I start to cry, "my mom lost her job a few days ago and, because of this, my dad decided to pull the 'we're getting a divorce' card on her and now she's a single mom of 3 children!"
"You have siblings? What are they're names?," Matt questions, making sure to comfort me along the way.
"I have a brother and a sister. My sister is the youngest. Her name is Emilee. She's 7. My brother is the middle child. He's 12. His name is Elliot," I manage to catch my breath for long enough to be able to tell him those words.

I'm completely oblivious as to how I look, probably something of a pig. Meanwhile, Matt has me cradled in his arms, letting me sob into his chest.

Principal Darmes and Mrs. Twinge re-enter the room, to find me asleep in Matt's arms. "Shh," Matt tells them when they enter loudly. I moved a little bit, but still sound asleep. "She was sobbin—" Matt starts, but gets interrupted by Darmes: "We heard everything. No need to explain."

And then they left the room once again, leaving Matt hearing only the pitter-patter of high heels and the lock of the door from the outside.

The second chapter, ahhhhhhh!!!! I love this chapter so much, I don't know why tho! I know it's kind of sad, but who cares? It's over 1,000 words!! I started this book with little to no ideas, now I can't even keep up with my ideas!!!! I am thinking about writing a science fiction in the future... This rom-com is for my mommy. She loves romance and all that good stuff. My dad on the other hand, hates it. That's why I'm starting to plan out said science fiction story, but I have zero ideas on what I should make it about. Maybe I'll come up with something soon. I love love love you guys!!!
