You'd spent the last couple months looking for a sign of the black haired boy that you quite frankly missed dearly, your met ups with hide weren't the same and many of the times you both cancelled on each other because it didn't feel the same without the bookworm of the group.
Everyday was a another hope that you would see kaneki again. Part of you started to lose and started  thinking about if he was dead. The thought alone made tears well up in you e/c orbs that were beginning to lose their regular gleam.

More days passed and I ended up getting sick so I spent atleast a week in bed thinking, causing my feelings to swell up. Having never actually talking to him after I got released would have been good but also a  mistake had I known he'd be taken so soon I would have spent a lot more time with the black haired male and relish in the time we got to spend together as a group but something like that was of course impossible now. My thoughts were interrupted when I heard a familiar knock on the door "who is it?" you question to yourself, going to answer the door shakily. Your eyes sparkle childishly at the sight of the blonde who had been trying to help you feel better after kaneki's disappearance with the his brief visits. Though he had been trying his best not too the two of you would always both end up talking about the inevitable when it came down to it some days.

"Feelin' any better y/n?"

You smile slighty at the concern that he always shows regarding you these days(and the constant soup he brought that was actually pretty good.) you thought it was probably because he already lost one friend and he doesn't wanna lose another.

"Yeah, I think I can go back to school tomorrow if I take that gross medicine crap."
You faked a gag just thinking about the disgusting purple liquid.

"No need to rush yourself I can always bring your notes from class and help you out."
The latter responds chuckling at your reaction of the mention of the medicine.

"No biggie I wanna go to class I uh- think too much when I'm here alone."

The pause in your sentence indicated that you were kind of uncomfortable with the thought of bring stuck alone in the house another day. Hide hums understanding where you're coming from.

"Well, I'll see ya later take care alright?"

"Yeah you too."
More time had passed than you had thought thr sun was starting to go down and the streetlights were flickering on already.

I miss you kaneki.
