"She has a point..." Jane supported.

"Her powers aren't developed though," Isaac reminded.

"None of ours are," Skye mumbled.

"You'll get there," Andres said to her as if comforting. Did that mean the twins were fully developed?

"I think it's a good idea," Indica said spitefully, but I didn't mind because she was supporting me.

"It's a stupid idea," Cariba countered. "She can get killed out there."

"Then you go with her," Cheshire scoffed. Cariba rolled her eyes. "I think it sounds fine. Send the one person who can't get hurt."

"Alright, then it's settled," I said, already turning to leave and walk down what I thought was the entrance to the school. I really didn't know. But then someone grabbed my arm. Zaine.

"You're not going out there," he told me, sternly. Something in his voice and definitely his eyes suggested that he wasn't denying me because of some leader thing.

"It's the best plan at the moment, so—"

"'The best plan'?" he quoted. "You may have been here for two years, but you know nothing. If you can't even dodge all of those knives in the simulator, how do you expect to dodge hundreds of bullets, Aspen?"

He had a point, but I wouldn't let him believe that.

"Technically, they're not bullets," Jane piped up and we both turned to the group of teens that we had neglected due to this confrontation.

"Exactly," Zaine said and then looked down to me. "They're syringes with something that's knocking out and killing everyone."

"Minor detail," I said sarcastically and then started walking away from him again. This time, I got in a few more steps. "I can handle this."

"Sentara put me in charge," his voice called. I kept walking. "That means you have to listen to orders."

"I'm not in the military and you're not my leader," I said, continuing in my way.

"I like her," Cheshire simply said in the distance and I smirked at that as I turned the corner.

It seemed like an hour later when I finally realized that there wasn't an actual door that would lead me out of here. We were underground. Of course I had to listen in to find some soft crack or layer that would suggest a pathway to a higher floor.

This hearing thing was weird. Wilbur had the power to see noises, but he was deaf. The ability, to me, allowed me to hear even better for some reason. It was unfair to Wilbur, but then again, he was able to talk sometimes, but over the years, it's seemed to come and go.

I heard white noise from a walky-talky coming in and out and decided that's where the break and doorway was. I jumped up with my arms extended, and the first time my hands hit the panel, it broke through easily. Whoa. I looked around for something to climb up with, but found nothing. Damnit.

I looked at the wideness of the tunnel and the close proximity of the open panel to the wall. Hmm. I backed up to opposite wall and tried sprinting, propping my foot on the wall and grabbing a hold on the floor in the broken ceiling. I was surprised that it worked, but more surprised that I could pull up my body weight. I seemed to be in another hallway of Development rooms and I was hearing the scattering white noise and no responses. I started to cautiously walk towards the elevator and when I turned the corner, I saw two bodies on the floor. The one furthest from the elevator was a military, dark-dressed soldier. He was in the perfect position to pull the trigger of his hi-tech gun, but the only thing that prevented him was the fact that he was frozen with ice covering his body completely. The boy by the elevator was in a more uncomfortable state. He wasn't frozen in a block of ice, but his white hair suggested that maybe he created it. His eyes were open and his irises were just as silvery white as his hair. I noticed that there were two wounds on his limp body. A syringe in his shoulder with an icy, canister filled with blue liquid and a bullet hole through his heart.
