Kate called up Mr.Smith's office.
"May i speak to Mr.Smith?"
"Yes who is this?"Asked his secretary
"This is Kate Brown"
"I am sorry he is in a meeting i will have him call you back as soon as possible. Thank you"
Kate waited for four hours for Mr.Smith's call. Finally he called her back.
"Kate, my secretary said you called"
"Yes i have some legal issues, i will need your help. I have some problem"
"Lets discuss it tonight over dinner?"
"No its urgent, can you come over to my office Mr.Smith?"
"Ofcourse i will be there in an hour"
"Good, see you then"
"See you"
As soon as Mr.Smith reached the office he was sent to Kate's Cabin.
Kate told him the entire scenario.
"Kate i understand your concern but i dont take labour cases anymore. Perhaps i have a friend who could be of great help to you" said Mr.Smith.
"Mr.Smith i insist please i would really appreciate it if you handled this personally. I dont need anyone else handling this."
"I am sorry Kate i can't" said Mr.Smith as he left the cabin.
For the first time in her life Kate felt helpless and confused. She knew she needed a good lawyer to handle this. She knew how strongly labour union would present this case against her. Most importantly it was about Brown Hi-Tech Pvt.Ltd. This case could damage the prestige and position earned by her father and now her for Brown Hi-Tech Pvt.Ltd. She knew she was in great mess and she needed to come out of it somehow.
She took a look at the rest of the list and checked the case histories of those lawyers. They weren't very impressive. She knew she had to do something to convince Mr.Smith to take this case. She knew he was a very busy man but that probably wasnt the reason behind him rejecting the case.
Kate couldnt sleep that night. She stayed awake the entire night. She was very angry. "I should have killed him instead of slapping him" thought Kate to herself.
The next morning as Kate went to the office she heard construction noise going on. She widened her eyes for a clear view. She looked at them in disbelief.
Kate went on and asked the head worker "Whats going on.? I thought you said your workers wont work for us now"
"Yes but we didnt realise the wrench could have killed you" said the head worker.
When Kate was back to her office she had a feeling it was Mr.Smith behind fixing this up.
Kate told Rose(her secretary) to send him a cheque of twenty thousand dollars.
When Mr.Smith received the cheque he returned it back.
Kate was furious to receive the cheque back. She called Mr.Smith.
"How do we repay you about the kind deed Mr. Smith?"
"By having dinner with me Miss. Brown"
"I am afraid not tonight Mr.Smith as i am not very well. Hopefully next week? "
"Sure Miss.Brown whenever you have time."
That night Kate was thinking about her life. About how lonely she was from inside. But she was waiting for someone special. Someone whom she could bare her soul to. Someone who would be more important to her than Brown Hi-Tech.
