"Leave me alone!" Again the voice of my six year old brother, Ian, wakes me up from a fantastic dream.
For the past month he has been waking up and throwing tantrums in the middle of the night. That plus his anger issues during the day and a high temperature every day, has been driving my parents crazy. It has gotten so bad he broke a wall with his own fist while throwing a tantrum over the color of his toothbrush.
"Shut up spaz!" Chloe yells from across the room. It is too dark to see her face but she is sitting up in her canopy bed obviously angry from being woken up for the third time tonight.
Chloe is my adopted sister and best friend since I was five. She has dirty blonde hair is about 5'6 and has light brown eyes. Her blonde hair sticks out like a thumb compared to the rest of the family, who all have brown hair. Apart from her we all have the exact same green eyes, even my mom and dad.
For some strange reason no one assumes Chloe is adopted. She even has the last name Carter while ours is Kendall. But besides those differences she is just like the rest of the family, and no one treats her like she is any different.
"Be nice" My mom yells from Ian's room probably trying to calm him down. I don't know why they bother the more they talk to him the angrier he gets.
"She's right! Just leave him alone and take him to a physiatrist" I yell getting out of bed. The alarm clock says 5:43, I might as well get up. I only had thirty minutes of sleep left anyway. Chloe on the other hand is already fast asleep, and drooling once again.
My feet drag as I slowly make my way down the carpeted hallway. I stop at Ian's green door and look in, he is rocking on his bed with his fingers in his mouth. He has done that since he was a baby when he is really sad.
"What's the matter?" I ask him sitting on the edge of his bed. I sit far enough away so he won't bite me but close enough to seem comforting. He starts to tremble ad cry, he already looks young for his age but at the moment he seems even younger and helpless.
"It's talking inside of me" Ian moans, shaking and squeezing himself more. I open my arms to him and he climbs into my lap and hugs me. He is scaring the crap out of me, like some possessed kid in a scary movie, but he is my brother so I don't run for my life.
"What's inside of you Ian?'' I ask sympathetically. Even though he is being ridiculous, he probably believes something is inside of him. He has always had a wild imagination, but what six year old doesn't? He takes his fingers out of his mouth and scrunches up his face. He does it when he is confused or thinking hard, it is usually adorable.
"The voice, he is not mean to me but he scares me and makes me mad" Ian says frowning. I was right when I said he needs a psychiatrist.
"It will get better, I promise. Just think happy thoughts" I tell him, not knowing what to say. He crawls off my lap and just leaves the room. He is a cute and a weird kid. I just shake my head and leave the room as well. No need trying to understand what's wrong with him.
I drag myself to the bathroom and brush my teeth and take a shower. I like the water to be almost freezing, I can't take hot water. I finish sooner than expected and go back to my room to get dressed. Chloe and I's room is pretty small for two people. The closet is barely five feet in length.
Luckily, Chloe and I are the same size everything. We share the closet, which doesn't even fit half of our stuff. I am definitely not a fashionista, I just hate to wear the same thing over and over again.
I slip on a green V-neck with light wash jeans shorts, a brown belt, a scarf, and Sperrys. Chloe fumbles around in bed, muttering about starships or something. I fix my hair putting it into a ponytail before going back to wake up Chloe.
