"That was too funny" Jace laughs taking his eyes off the road to look at me. I personally don't think me freaking out and falling off of the tree house ladder is humorous. I mean come on it hurt like hell and I got mud on my toms!
"Asshole" I whisper, of course he can still hear me. He laughs even more, taking one of his hands off of the wheel. Again he places his hand on my knee tracing random patterns over my jeans. It definitely is a cute gesture, it gets the sparks going.
"So I was meaning to ask you something" He whispers, stopping the tracing. We are ten minutes away from my house. Figures he would wait until the very last moment.
"Hm?" I raise my eyebrows slightly. Ugh, if he does something like ask me to be his girlfriend I might actually kill myself. We pretty much have established we are going out. Even people at school think so.
“My parents are making me ask you to..." He grunts gripping the steering wheel. This is not where I thought this was going, it's worse.
"To what?" My voice comes out snippier than expected. So far his parents were a story nagging on the edge of my brain. I haven't meet them yet, only heard people talking about them. I don't even know his parents’ names yet. Pack members always call them by their titles.
Dad talks about them all the time at dinner since he works for Jace's dad. People at school referring to him as the Alpha talk about how great he is. It is like he is Prince William. They respect him no matter what. The same goes for Jace's mom, the Luna.
"They want you and your family to come for dinner" He sighs as if in pain. My stomach drops practically to my knees. They want us to come over? This is ten times worse than what I originally thought. From what I've heard his parents are rich and classy. Compared to them my family should be locked up in a zoo, picking bananas out of each other’s hair.
"Why? Oh my gosh Jace did you tell them we're mates?" I yell earning a scowl. His hands which are still gripping the wheel turn an even lighter shade of white.
"No, of course not. It would be illegal for him to keep that kind of a secret from the council" Jace's face forms an expressionless mask. Jace has only talked about his dad a few times but each time he seems almost mad. From what I've heard they don't have the best of relationships.
"I just told him you are my new girlfriend. He did the same for Natalie. Future alpha's new girlfriend is a big deal for him." He sneers turning into the driveway. The thought of being the future alpha's new girlfriend is majorly upsetting. Just think about being in control of other people in the future makes me sick. I mean, I can't even babysit Ian without him being kidnapped!
Jace sits back in his seat putting the car in park. His hand which is still on my knee starts making spirals. Just thinking about bringing my family to his house is terrifying. Especially since his dad probably thinks I'm a slut like Natalie.
"Please" he croaks out, moving his hand a little farther up my leg. My mind blurs focusing only on his hand on my thigh. Maybe I am like Natalie...
"Okay, okay! When?" I sigh smacking his hand off my thigh. A cheeky grin spreads across his face. Definitely love the little dimple that appears when he smiles. I open the door getting out onto the wet grass.
"Saturday at 5" He smirks leaning over for a quick kiss. If I had a dime for every time he smirked... I'd be as rich as him. That is one of the things we talked about in the tree house.
Apparently all werewolves pay taxes to the pack they belong to. Then it is split up between all the leading members of the pack. The blue moon pack is huge, making Jace's family so rich. That's how Dad gets paid since he is pack enforcer. Unfortunately we are know where as rich as them.
"Bye" I smile as I walk up to the house. The grass rubs against my legs as always. The grass gets cut every week but still manages to grow a foot in between.
Jace's car pulls back out of the driveway as soon as I'm in the front door. He isn't the type to walk me up to the door but he stills watches to see if I make it in one piece. He is a partial gentleman, I like it. Who wants a guy who would put his jacket in a puddle for you anyway? You'd have to walk around with him smelling like rain water and dirt all day.
"I'm home" my voice carriers probably all the way throughout the house. Ian's voice answers from the kitchen. It's Wednesday meaning family fun night. Everyone makes dinner then we play a game, usually on the wii. Now even Kameron stops by.
"Hey Mom" I fake smile. All that I can think about is the dinner with Jace's parents.
"Hey sweetheart" She smiles warmly as she rolls out dough. Ian is sitting on the table cutting little shapes into pepperoni. I guess its pizza tonight.
"Kameron and your father are in the living room. Chloe's upstairs" Mom mutters, smearing the tomato sauce on the dough. I set down my backpack and go upstairs. I've got to tell Chloe about today.
<~*~>
"So Saturday night" I finish the long story. Chloe has been waiting patiently on her bed as I pace and talk.
"So basically you made out then he told you we have to meet his parents" She laughs laying back on the blue duvet. Her room is mostly blue, underwater is her thing.
This isn't funny. I think I might actually die if my family goes to meet his. Ian will probably go spaz, Dad will make horrible jokes, and Kameron will be a total smartass.
"It's gonna be fine. We aren't that bad" Chloe laughs. Really? Aren't that bad? At my freshman Romeo and Juliet play Ian wet himself on purpose. Dad got into a fist fight with an usher, and Kameron made out with Juliet right on stage. It was literally the most embarrassing event that has ever happened.
"Yes they are" I whine flopping down into her bean bag chair. The smell of pizza wafts up from the open door. The sounds of burping and laughing drift up further draining my hopes of my family not embarrassing me.
"Dinner's ready" Mom yells up the stairs. I've never really evaluated my family before, but coming into the dining room to see Kameron tossing pepperoni in Ian's marshmallow covered mouth is a definite eye opener.
"Are you okay? You haven't been talking much" Dad hiccups, pounding his chest. I shrug, stirring the straw around in my root beer. Everyone stares at me in an awkward silence. Well there's no better time than the present to drop horrible news.
"Um. Jace's parents invited us all to dinner on Saturday" I sigh picking up the piece of pizza. Chloe winks smirking a little.
"Yeah dinner with Lyle!" Ian screeches bouncing up and down in his chair. Lyle is Jace's younger brother. Ian and Lyle have been friends even before Jace and I. They have been hanging out a lot in school. Kameron even took them out on a wolf run last week. I haven't met him yet but heard he is a miniature Jace, player and all.
"That sounds wonderful" Mom smiles collecting the plates. Well that wasn't as horrible as expected. I pull out my phone texting Jace that we can go. I am being extremely over dramatic but two days and twenty two hours before the end of my life...
