"How are they?" Mom's voice whispers calmly somewhere near my face. The sun shines through my eyelids making it obvious that it is now morning or noon.
"They should be fine. When she wakes up we can get her to shift" An unfamiliar voice says with a smile in its voice. By "she" he probably means me. By the conversation and the hard mattress beneath me, I am in a hospital or medical area. How I got here or why I'm here is a mystery.
I peel open my eyes, wincing as the sun's rays beam down into my corneas. Everything looks so clear and fresh.
To the right a redheaded girl is laying on a hospital bed probably sleeping. She isn't connected to anything so she probably fainted. I slowly turn my head past the doctor and Mom to the left.
Holy Crap!
There laying on the bed like a human is a wolf. A wolf with brown fur that is staring directly at me. Suddenly the memories come flying back like a boomerang. Jace kidnapping Ian, Ian's bones breaking, my bones breaking, and Chloe fainting. Oh geez that must mean...
I look down to see chestnut fur and paws. My head spins like a top. I'm a wolf? That can't be possible. And why is mom not freaking out at two of her four children laying on hospital beds transformed into giant monsters?
A scream lets out of my lungs but cones out as a painful howl. The doctor smiles coming closer to the bed. He must be a wolf too, that's why he is taking care of us. The thought of him being a monster too is scary yet comforting.
"Before I explain all of this, let's have you switch back to human" He says rubbing the fur on my head. It would be strange if it didn't feel so nice. I feel like a golden retriever...
"To turn back all you need to do is relax and imagine being in human form. Imagine how it feels" He smiles confidently. He must have gone through this before with other people. He seems so practiced and reassuring.
I loosen up my muscles and think about having real arms and legs again. A shooting pain goes through my body. Not as painful as last night but painful none the less. I can feel the bones changing length and position, and the hair shooting back up into my skin. Finally I am back to human, but naked.
The doctor hands me a blue cozy looking robe. He seems not to be fazed by my nakedness. I however am plenty embarrassed for the both of us.
"What's happened to me?" I ask getting straight to the point. I want answers. Obviously my mom knew about werewolves and decided not to tell me. Now I want the truth, no more surprises.
"Okay where should I begin?" The doctor sighs, sitting back in his wheelie chair. Mom sits down as if preparing for a long speech.
"Well I'll begin by saying what is happening to you is completely normal. There are many more werewolves all over the world" He says looking straight into my eyes. How can he even say that? The existence of even one werewolf isn't normal.
"Werewolves naturally form packs, and right now we are in the blue moon pack house. A pack house is where most pack members live" The doctor continues. That must mean Jacob, Jace, and Lucas live here. I still need to kick their assess for kidnapping Ian.
"Your parents belong to this pack so you do too. Yes, your parents are werewolves" He smiles nodding his head. How could my parents be wolves? Why would they not tell me? Why wouldn't Kameron tell me, he obviously is one too if my parents are. I can't even look at my mom right now even though her gaze is burning the side of my face. She kept this huge secret from me and let me transform for the first time in pain and confusion.
"We have laws and regulations which you will have to learn. You can live here if you want and you will have a mate. That's about it" He wraps up, sitting up in his chair. What does he mean mate? It sounds like something from some werewolf, vampire, and zombie love triangle book.
