Of course I would still get to see Will, but it wouldn't be often. At the time, I saw him almost every day, because of school and also because he lived in my neighborhood. But now, I didn't know how often I'd get to see him. I mean, I'm sure we could schedule a time to hang out, but it wouldn't be the same. And one thing I have learned from moving constantly is that long distance relationships, well, they never work.

I pretended to forget everything I had just heard, took a deep breath, and walked into the Principal's office.

Principal Clemons and Vise Principal Barry looked up as I cautiously entered.

"Kimberly, I called you in here several minutes ago." Barked the Principal. "Where have you been?"

"Oh, sorry, it won't happen again." I stammered quickly. "But, I-I'm here now."

"Yes I can see that." He said dryly. "Please, take a seat."

I gulped as I slowly sat down in the wooden chair next to his desk, unfortunately knowing and regretting what was coming.

Mrs. Barry closed the door on her way out, and then it was just me and Principal Clemons.

"I've asked you in here today, Kimberly," Started the Principal. "To discuss the matter of your education."

I shuffled my feet restlessly, wondering what I should think about all this or say at the moment, but I stayed silent.

"As I'm sure you know, regrettably we are not the most popular school around." He said quietly while sitting down at his neat desk. "Not even close. We don't offer any special activities for college credits, and don't have the newest, most effective curriculums for providing our students with the best education possible."

Mr. Clemons paused for a moment to glance at the clock. He then, aimed his attention back to me.

"We do however, pride ourselves on the type of teachers we have. We only hire the teachers we feel will teach their material efficiently and who will do well in directing the students. Our teachers are also very observant when it comes to their students, and, as I understand from them, you show quite a bit of potential and raw talent. You are an intelligent student, and you're also athletic. Both will help you much in the future, but if you really want to improve on your skills and education, this school is not the best choice.

"Our school doesn't offer many sport teams to play with, or any special classes to improve your range of knowledge. You could have a much better education somewhere else, with more qualified teachers, and much more opportunities for special people like you. That's why, I had decided, to send a request for you to attend Lawrence Academy."

I jumped up out of my seat, outraged at what Mr. Clemons had just said.

"No." I said loudly. "I'm not special, I'm just smarter than average, that's all. I don't need to go to another school!"

"Please calm down, Kimberly." He sighed exasperatedly.

I slowly sat back down, but my heart kept beating at the pace of a race horse. Would my whole world end up falling apart because the Principal thought I was "special"? Well, he was wrong. I was just a normal girl, and I always have been, always will be.
