The Mystery Hunters

Important Author's Note

Hello, Readers!

I know that I haven't updated in a REALLY LONG TIME, but I have good reason.

I didn't feel that I was qualified to keep writing. Something seemed off, so I took a break to work on some other stories and to do more research and learning before I continued.

Now, I feel much more experienced and qualified to continue with my work, but there's one thing you should know; I know some of you who have been reading "The Mystery Hunters" may be opposed to this idea, but I think it's what needs to be done.

I am planning to rewrite all the chapters that I've written so far in this novel.

There are several reasons for this.

Firstly; My character development wasn't the best in my opinion. Some of the characters didn't have much personality or purpose, and that doesn't sit well with me. I believe all characters, even the side characters, should have something that sets them apart. Something they live for and believe in, and not all of my characters had that.

Secondly; and this is probably one of the most idiotic things I've ever done, was write about Lawrence Academy. The whole reason I'd written about Lawrence in the first place was so that Kim would move and that would start a chain of reactions that would be relevant to the story later on. However, I soon realized that creating Lawrence and Kim's entire moving procedure wasn't even required to get the chain started. So, basically I created multiple chapters that aren't even needed.

Thirdly; Some of the names of characters and places I didn't like too much. I'm going to change many of the names of the places, and I considered doing the same with most of my characters. However, I'm only changing the name of one of the characters. Although I wished I would've chosen better and more relevant names for the characters to begin with, I don't want to change them now. It feels like they wouldn't even be the same characters I had been working with for three years if I change their names now. It would almost be like replacing them, and I didn't want to do that.

Fourthly; I feel like in the first ten chapters I had written, I've added a lot of unnecessary details that caused the introductory chapters to be way longer than they needed to be. When I rewrite everything, I'll be only adding detail that's important and relevant to the story itself.

Finally; I've gotten a lot better at my writing since last time I updated and I want to restart, considering when I first started I didn't have much experience. I don't just want to be a great writer for my age. I want to actually be a great writer.

I hope all of this makes sense to you, and that you won't be too mad when I delete everything I've written so far and start over. I decided to write this explanation to give you a warning and reason as to what I'm doing, and to also give you a chance to give me any ideas and opinions before I start writing the new version.
