"Wait, so Mr. Smith isn't your dad?" Candy asked staring inattentively at me.
"No." I answered back flatly.
"I knew it!" she exclaimed and I looked at her like she had just grown two heads.
"Sorry, it's just that you kinda look like and alien when you are around your family. I mean, you do not look one bit like any of them.:
"Well, gee, thanks. That just makes me feel so much better Candice." Sarcasm was dripping with every word that came out of my mouth. I was kind of pissed she would say something like that especially at this particular moment. She flashed me and apologetic smile and I instantly forgave her. We sat in silence for a couple of seconds.
"I know what would make you feel better!" Candice said out of the blue. Honestly I don't know what would make me feel better. "Well go to Sweet Frog!!!" Candice clapped her hands together and bounced up and down on the bed. Sweet Frog was my favourite frozen yogourt place and even though I wanted to be all sad and mopey, It just wasn't in my nature.
"Okay, Okay. I'll go but you're paying." I stated. She nodded "And-" I continued, "You have to tell me all about you and Brandon." Candice looked surprised for a minute and then blushed.
"Well, then brace yourself because there is absolutely nothing to tell."
"Right.... So tell my why again when I burst into the room you two were practically sitting on top of each other." As soon as I had said that, her face turned a nice shade of red. I love messing with her.
Candice fumbled with her words, "Uh, Um- I have no idea of what your talking about." I nodded and smirked.
"Surrrrreeeeeeee." I replied back in a joking tone dragging out the 'e'. I grabbed my phone and closed the door behind me and we walked out of her room and down the stairs.
"Shut up bitch before I decide not to go anymore." She said as her face returning to it's natural shade and I chuckled as I followed Candice out the house. On way to the nearest mall I got a call. I was surprised when I looked at the Caller ID and saw that It was an unknown number. After turning down the volume on the radio I answered,
"Hello?"
"Um hey Alex It's Austin." I heard a husky male voice respond on the other end. I was not expecting him to call.
"Oh hey Austin. I'm glad you called. I can't make it tomorrow. I was wondering if I can take a rain-check?" Candice looked up from the road and gave me a look that read : are you crazy?!. I just don't think I'm ready to go on a date yet.
"Um actually, that;s awesome because, I really couldn't make it tomorrow either." I smiled. That was easier that I thought It would be.
"But the gist is, we can't go out as anything more than friends." I felt a little bit disappointed.
"Oh. Well, that's okay."
"Great. I knew you would understand. Um, okay then, Ill see you tomorrow at school."
"O-" Before I could even finish my sentence, the line went dead.
"Well that was rude." I stated angrily as we pulled up to the mall.
"What happened?" Candy asked softy and I recited the previous conversation.
"The nerve of that bitch!" She cursed loudly. I laughed and dragged her out of the car, to the mall. She seemed more angry than I did. Oh, well. He's just a guy. It's not like we were dating or anything. I shrugged it off and enjoyed my time with my best friend. We even face timed Brandon and rubbed it in his face. He blushed when I told him he shouldn't have left so early. I was in a better mood my the time we went back to Candice's place.
