****************************

There I am, sitting in front of a lake, gazing at my reflection in the water for the longest time, unable to comprehend what I was seeing. After going through what felt like hours of agonizing pain, I somehow managed to make it into the deepest part of the woods so no one could spot me. I couldn't make up what to do or to say. I was in total disbelief, taking every feature of myself in, but still my eyes couldn't believe it.

I was not like the other wolves I've seen.

My body frame and size were larger; every muscle could be seen with the naked eye.

The height of my wolf felt as if I were Mount Everest, towering over everything in my path.

My fur was white as snow, but it gleamed with touches of silver with every movement of my body. A soft clinking sound began to fill the air. I became intrigued by the noise and began to examine my fur more closely, discovering that the silver was actually blades. Wow.

The outer part of my eye has a dark rim around it as if I had eyeliner. The color of my eyes is a bright blue crystal that brightens around the pupil.
My teeth. The biggest one I have seen. My canines are long and white with a silver lining at the tips.

My claws are not only long and sharp, but also silver in color.

While I was impressed by my wolf, I was also perplexed due to the fact that every wolf has a weakness in silver. In some situations, a single scratch can be enough to kill a wolf.

"Adeline."

A voice that was both strong and elegant rang in my head. My heart shook, almost bursting out of my chest.

Frightened of the voice, I ran. My paws pound the ground after every step, leaving a slight echo in the air.

"Why are you running?"

I tried to speed up my legs, but as I had never run in wolf form before, I failed and tripped over one of my paws, going down with an oomf.

"Whoever this is... please leave me alone" I tried to speak but it just came out in some whining wolf noise.

"Adeline, please stop making a fool of yourself. I'm in your thoughts. I am the wolf within you. Talk to me as if you were speaking in your mind."

Her voice was filled with richness and power. She was capable of making anyone bow before her. Her words were commanding and strong, but also elegant and gentle, enough to put a baby to sleep.

"Hello... My name is Adeline."

"I know all about you Adeline. Don't be afraid, I can feel all your emotions. I'll introduce myself, my name is Alkina, which means 'the moon'. There's a lot to be explained, but there's limited time for today. So, I promise to answer all of your questions tomorrow, because I know you have many. "

"Of course, I do. Why now? Why not when I was 13? Why do I look different? Why is my fur made of silver? A wolf can not be near silver; it is our weakness. Why-"

"Many questions my child, but I must go and you as-well."

"No, I don't-- "

"ADELINE!"

I can hear Anne calling me from a distance.

"Adeline, you must go back to human form. No one can yet know of me. It's important that you keep it a secret right now. You are a wolf that wields great power, Adeline. It is necessary for you to train first."

"Powerful? Train? How do you exactly change into human form?"

"Visualize yourself as a human. Every detail and you will turn but, warning this is the first time you will shift. You.. Umm... Well, it's best to stay out of sight. Goodbye Adeline."

With that, I no longer felt a connection.

So much was going through my head, making me more confused by the second, but I had to hurry and leave.

Stay out of sight? What's the worst that can happen?

With full concentration, I thought of every part of a human, and I could feel my fur retracting and my bones dislocating and being put back in place.

Yep... still hurts.

Upon completion of the shifting, I felt a slight sense of disappointment. I felt powerful when I was a wolf. I felt like nothing could stop me. Like my father couldn't hurt me and I didn't have to hide from the pack so they didn't see my bruises. I'm rarely seen by them, and if they do, it's with disgust. My only friend is Anne.

A sudden breeze caught me off guard while I was lost in thought. A breeze in a location where it shouldn't be.

My eyes lowered as I remembered what Alkina had said.

Stay out of sight.

Oh. No. I'm naked.

Time to become a ninja.
