Reunite

Over time with the rise of web access and social media, Felix reconnected with James. He wanted to reconnect with Taylor but she didn't use social media.

On James Facebook page, there were pictures of Taylor and Roland. When Felix asked James about Roland, James just told him that's her husband. James failed to mention that they were separated.

James didn't tell Taylor about being back in touch with Felix. He wasn't sure if it would effect her positively or not. Although, he did recommend she make a Facebook page.

Tragedy struck just as she was getting on social media. Her grandfather passed and left her devastated. He was the one she took all her problems to. Anytime she needed advice or anything, he gave it unbiased.

Felix saw that she was on Facebook from James page. Though her only post was about losing someone she really cared about. He followed a link from James page to Roland's. Curious if something had happened to him. While he saw no signs of anything having happened, he did see lots of comments from many women on his page.

Felix grew more concerned. He couldn't stand not knowing what was going on. Then he feared the worst. James had exchanged numbers with him but neither had called before. Next Felix called James.

James; what's up Phoenix!? Thought I was never gone hear from you bruh.

Felix; hey James. Thank goodness your alive. Wait who's Phoenix?

James lol; you Phoenix! I seen your lil prom pic online and of course I'm alive. Damn I know I ain't been on Facebook in a minute but...

Felix; it's not that fool. I saw your sis finally made a page and she was talking like she lost her best friend.

James; Oooooh! That. Naw that was my grandpa. He died. She taking it real hard.

Felix; Oooooh! Dang! Gramps died? I remember going by his place when we were younger. He always had wise words to impart on us.

James; look at big man on campus with the big words. *lol* I didn't think anyone talked like that in real life. For real though it is a tragedy and she don't have many friends. I tried to talk to her but...

Felix; yeah. I remember she didn't hang with too many girls. Guess somethings don't change but I thought she was married?

James; oh yeah. She is, but they going thru things right now. She could really use a friend like you right now.

Felix; when is the funeral?

James; Saturday.

Felix; dang, I'll be shipped out to my next location by then.

James; what you in the army? I thought you was a Dr or something.

Felix lol; neither. I work in hospitals but I'm no doctor. I travel around doing inventory and assisting with other stuff.

James; I gotta go man. I'll hit you up later.

Felix; ok bet.

After getting off the phone, Felix contacted his manager. He hadn't got any details of his next assignment but wanted to cancel. Problem was all his money was going to China 1 way or another. As luck would have it, the assignment he wanted to cancel lead him right where he wanted to be.

Felix got packed and asked his boss if he could book him on the next available flight. He wasn't supposed to leave for another 2 days but his manager assumed it was work enthusiasm and arranged it.

Felix called Calvin to see if he was going to Florida as well. They were like best friends now so Calvin stayed in Phoenix when he wasn't on assignment. Calvin sadly informed him that he wasn't. He had actually taken a full time position at the local hospital.

Taylor was distraught. She did not know where to turn. In anguish, she called Roland hoping for emotional support. When a girl answered his personal cell, she hung up immediately.

James was visiting his parents for dinner. Taylor joined them at the table but did not really eat much.

James; girl you better eat. You gone waist away.

Taylor murmured; good. Nothing left here for me anyway.

James with a grin; guess who I been talking to? Your boy from back in the day. Phoenix!

Taylor stared silent and confused.

James; Damn. I meant Felix. My bad.

Taylor face lit up; wow! For real! How?

James; I thought that might make you smile. We friends on Facebook.

Taylor rushed away from the table and to her pc. She had been neglecting her page since losing her grand father. The only friends she had on so far were relatives.

She went to James page and searched his friends. Felix was right there looking just as handsome as ever. He aged gracefully and was well toned.

Taylor immediately sent him a friend request. Then she started going thru his pics. Her hopes crashed seeing pictures of Vanity and China. It was a lot of China. Some were even just Felix and China, but there were some of just Felix and Vanity. Most were old like their prom pictures that he shared though they were old. Adding insult to injury his current relationship status was in a relationship with Vanity.

Taylor needed a distraction now more than ever. She had already missed 2 days from work. Taylor had become a nurse, but was given time off for grievance. Despite having it approved, she decided to return to work.

The next day, Felix flight landed. Since he was early, he went to his cousins place to stay for the night. His job provided a rental car. He dropped off his bags and flew to Taylor's parents home.

Knock, knock!

Taylor's dad; who is it?

Felix; hey, you may not remember me but...

Taylor's dad; boy look at you. Of course I remember you. Get in here!

Taylor mom walked up and hugged him. They proceeded to the living room. James was watching the game.

James; Phoenix my nigga! Welcome back man! Damn you didn't even tell tell you was coming.

Felix; you never called back. *Lol. Is your sis here?

James; nope. She went to work even with all that's going on.

Felix; Oh. What time will she back?

James; late. She be working like 12 hours. Come watch the game with me man. We can catch up face to face.

Felix; I would if I could. I actually got some work stuff to do myself. Just wanted to offer my condolences. I'll catch you later though.

Felix left disappointed. He was really hoping to see Taylor. This did not stop him from going to the hospital to register.

Taylor was having a productive day at work. It really did help her take her mind off life. Lunch time was coming up so she sought out her best friend May.

Taylor; May! Where you wanna go for lunch?

May peering around her; what Angel?

Taylor; Lunch? It's lunch time. What are we eating.

May trying to look around Taylor; oh yeah. We can do lunch. What you have in mind?

Taylor; girl what are you looking at?

May; the new inventory guy and NA. He is fine as fuck.

Taylor turned around and dropped her charts. The inventory guy May was talking about was Felix. When he saw her, he rushed over to pick up her chart. She leaned down to and their eyes met. They stared and was taken right back to 8th grade dance. A kiss resulted in the moment.
