This time it won't backfire

Apple's POV

I was walking in the halls of Ever After High. It has been a week since I've seen Raven. Since she ruined things.
But how could she break from my spell?! I just don't get it! I hit her with the spell and she was persuaded by me! So what happened? I almost had it all and Raven would've followed her destiny!

"Everything is ruined because of her!" I yelled. The hallways went silent and everyone stared at me. I just put a big, nervous smile on my face to cover up my frustration.

I continued to walk through the halls to my room. I unlocked the door and went in. I closed the door behind me and dramatically plopped on my bed with a loud sigh. I stared at the ceiling for a few minutes. Then there was knock at the door.
"Who is it? And what do you want?" I asked, annoyed.
"Its Briar. I just want to talk to you. Can I come in?"
"Fine. The door is unlocked." I heard a click, then Briar came in and stood in front of me.
"C'mon! You need to get up. You can't come here all the time after classes and lay in your bed!"
"Why not! There is nothing left for me! My destiny is ruined! I have no future, Briar!" I lightly sobbed.
"Yes, there is! You just need to figure out what you're going to do." Briar started to pull on my legs to get me off the bed.
"Stop!" I yelled at her. I picked up a pillow and threw it at her. I missed and hit Raven's vanity. I heard a thud.
"Ugh! See Briar, look what you made me do!" I told her, angrily.
I walked over to Raven's side of the room and picked up the pillow. But when I went to pick it up, I saw something. It was a box.
"What are doing Apple? Did you find something? Briar asked.
"I don't know. Its a box. I guess when the pillow was thrown and hit her vanity, the box fell." It was silver and on the top, it had Raven's name engraved in it. Then I checked the box to see how to open it. I felt something on the side. A lock.
"I can't open it. It's locked. Where do you think the key is?" I asked Briar.
"Maybe in a compartment. You check the rest of her vanity, I'll check under her bed and her dresser." We started rummaging through all of Raven's stuff and threw things on the floor.
"Nothing. Did you find anything?"
"No. Where could it be?" I kept searching and put my hand behind the dresser. I couldn't reach all the way behind it because the dresser was against the wall.
"Briar, can you come help me move this from the wall?"
"Yeah, sure." We moved the dresser and I put my hand behind it, looking for a compartment. I moved my hand again on the back. Then I felt a rough patch.
"I found something!" I yelled to Briar.
I pulled the rough patch off the back of the dresser. There was a latch. I pulled the latch and opened it. There it was. The key to the box.
"I found it! I found the key!" I squealed, excitedly.
"Great! Now c'mon, open the box!" I grabbed the box and put it on my desk. I put the key in the lock and turned it to the side. I heard a click and opened the box. In it, there was a scroll of paper. I picked it up and read it. It was a letter to Raven. From her mother. It read:

Dear my little birdie, Raven,

I don't have much time to write this but I had to give this to you before I'm taken away. It's for when you follow my footsteps when you go to high school in a couple of years. I know you won't read this. But when you take over Ever After, you need an army. You need people who obey your commands and fulfill your desires. It's just a farewell gift from your mother to help get that boost for power and destiny. But I have to go. They're coming for me. I never say this but do not forget I love you.

To be feared always,
Your mother

"What does it say, Apple?"
"Oh, nothing. Just some sappy crap from the Evil Queen to Raven." I rolled my eyes and tossed the letter onto the floor.
"But it could've said something important or had key info."
"Whatever. The letter just mentioned something with people obeying commands. But that was the only thing that was interesting."
"What else is in the box?" Briar asked. I looked in the box and picked up a vial of purple liquid. I opened it and smelled it. It smelled like cinnamon. Why would it smell like cinnamon? There was another piece of paper. It looked like an ingredient list. The list read:

Corrupted Mind
To make your victim obey. Make corruption of minds.
•tear of the pure
pinch of cinnamon
dragon flower
a shard of a mirror
scales of a rattlesnake

*This is for when you run out and need to make more. Only use one drop for one victim. You will know it worked when the victim's eyes turn a darker shade of their normal eye color.

"Apple, is there something else?" Briar asked.
"Uh, no. There isn't anything else in the box, just some perfume for Raven's birthday," I lied. I didn't want Briar to know about the vial of potion.

Then I got an idea. So if I give a drop to anyone, their under my power. That means I can get my happily ever after. I just need a test subject. Hmm, let's see, who would be the best person to try this potion out on? Briar.

"Hey, Briar! Let's go get some cinnamon lattes!" I exclaimed. I looked at her, waiting for a answer.
"Why do you want to do that now? You haven't been doing it lately."
"Well, that's the point! Since we haven't been doing it, we should start again!"
"Okay, sure!" She said, happily. When Briar was out the door, I stopped.
"Apple, c'mon! What are you doing?" She turned around to face me.
"Just go on ahead. Give me a minute. I have to grab my phone," I told her.
"Okay, if you say so." She shrugged her shoulders, turned and walked down the hallway. I went back to Raven's vanity, grabbed the box and put it in my purse.

"Briar has no clue what she is getting herself into. This time, my plan won't backfire. Soon, no one will stop me," I whispered to myself. I grinned evilly. I walked out the door.  Everyone, and I mean everyone, will be on their knees for me.
