I had fallen asleep at my desk waiting for Prince to go home for what I thought was a few minutes but it was actually a few hours. I was awaken by the sound of a motorcycle pulling in my driveway. I was hoping that it wasn't Prince and someone else but when I peeks through the curtain I was watching Prince walk through my backyard and sit in the grass.
"Go home Nelson!" I whispered to myself.
I continued to look on and he laid down with his hands behind his head and his legs crossed at his ankles. He sure was being persistent showing up and getting comfortable. I guess he had left for a while to change clothes because he wasn't wearing the same outfit from earlier. I checked the time on the clock at 10:46pm and began to track how long it would be before he gave up and left. He ended up laying there staring up at the sky for hours. When I checked the clock again it was 1:13am. By then I gave up watching and went to bed. Morning came and he was gone. His bike was gone so that meant he must have went home. I showered dressed and stayed in my room keeping watch to see if he would come back. The only person that had come and gone was the mail man and my mom. I was finally able to focus on something else when my phone began to ring. I went to answer it reluctantly afraid it might be Prince on the other end. I picked up the receiver but didn't say anything.
"Hello? Regan? Are you there?" I heard Prince say.
He sounded anxious and was hoping that I would say something. We were on the phone for a minute before the line went dead. I hung up the phone and started to walk away when it rang again. I picked up and again didn't answer.
"Regan? Are you there? Please say something."
Click.
I stood there and waited for the phone to ring for a third time but it didn't. I shook my head and made my way downstairs to the kitchen to find something to eat when
Riiiiiiing. Riiiiiiiiiing.
"Oh my god let it go already!" I said slamming the refrigerator door closed.
My phone rang for hours. I couldn't take it anymore. I ran back up to my room and unplugged my phone from the wall. I couldn't wrap my mind around his new found OCD and tried to fall asleep. Unfortunately my mind mind was on full Prince mode. The whole day was spent laying in bed tossing and turning. I felt like I was losing my sanity. What has he done to me? I told myself to never fall this hard for anybody but that mission failed poorly. I was hiding from him and ignoring his calls but my body was calling for him. I was beginning to go through withdrawal. I wanted his touch and his kiss. I just wanted him in general but I refused to breakdown my wall of pain and resentment. I closed my eyes and tried to fall asleep. I focused on the sound of the quiet inside of my room. I was finally successful. That night I woke up at 9:49pm. I went to the window thinking i would find Prince sitting in my backyard. He wasn't there. I looked across to the treehouse and he wasn't there either. I think he finally got the memo to give me my space. I headed back downstairs to go and get some fresh air now that I thought I was in the clear. I opened the door to see Prince sitting on my door step. He turned to me and he had tears in his eyes. Prince stood up and gave me a small smile.
"Oh god." I said dissatisfied.
"Hey beautiful." He said trying to make himself sound like he wasn't crying.
"Hello Nelson." I said with a flat tone.
"Back to the last name basis again?"
"Your lucky to have me call you anything at all."
"I'm more lucky to see your face."
I gave him the evil eye and went to close the door when he stuck his foot inside to stop me.
