Ashlynd’s P.O.V:

To be perfectly honest I was a wreck, not just with not knowing exactly how to do this job hunting thing but with Jace. I knew I lov- liked him, okay way more than that I just totally didn’t want to admit that. I mean come on, im a Vampire he’s a human were totally different. He eats food I drink blood that kinda would get in the way. Also the fact that fifty percent of what I’ve told him has been a lie. I looked over my shoulder at Jace who was lost in thought his gaze out the window, I didn’t blame him for not striking up conversation, since our make-up thingy back at Kayly’s I really didn’t know what to say. That I’m a Vampire and that’s why im so socially awkward around him, I wrapped my arms around my waist trying to hold my feelings inside.

“NYPD department is coming up on the right.” The woman driving said, I nodded and mumbled a thank you.

Jace’s heart rate went up, and my anxiety also was doing weird flips in my stomach. I took a deep breathe in and stole a glance at Jace. I was surprised to see him looking at me, I looked down embarrassed.

“You nervous?” Jace asked me, inching closer to me. It wasn’t Jace’s fault he was human, but it was my fault I brought him into this mess.

“Kinda, hey… do you want to see a movie or something tomorrow?” I asked Jace, his eyes met mine and I felt myself melt a little in the large pools of gold, the flecks of red made it seem way more intimate looking in them.

“Yeah I’d like that, but no chick-flicks or dramas!” He warned with a jokingly smile, I smiled.

“No trust me I like horror movies and action movies.” I scoffed again at his mention of drama and chick flick movies; I remember how Shelby used to like the drama movies. I would always make Kayly, Shelby and Schyler watch horror movies with me.

“Good, I guess we should go in.” Jace muttered glancing at the building behind me. I nodded and followed suit as he opened his door.

The sun might have been out but the air was crisp and I was shocked to see someone in shorts, maybe it was a Vampire. I walked up the building it was smashed between two other tall buildings, a man came out fast jumping into the cruiser out front. They seemed really busy, I walked in and gave Jace a look he gave me an encouraging look.

There was a front desk with a woman in a pencil skirt and her hair up, she looked up briefly when I walked in but didn’t say anything. Weird weren’t they supposed to always say hello and make you feel less nervous.

“Um hi I’m here to apply for a job.” She sighed and looked up at me.

“Yeah that’s great I am so tired of people thinking im some sort of receptionist, you see that big blue door over there- she pointed with her pen.

“Er yeah.” I said, her eyes piercing at me like I’d killed her cat or something. Jeesh lady switch to decaf.

“Go through there and there will be some preppy blonde to help you.” She said and went back to her paper work.

“Really?” Jace asked suddenly behind me.

“No not really! Just leave before I arrest you!” She yelled.

“Don’t worry about Marge she’s always upset, about what we don’t know.” A man said extending his right arm to me, I took it and shook it. He was in his late thirties and had a thick New York accent. He had warm brown eyes that I smiled at.
