She watched fear flood through Will as he seemed to rush from the phone to grab his car keys off of the table. Everything after that seemed to go by in a haze, her body was deathly numb and she felt a burning sensation in her chest. She honestly didn't really know how to feel because her emotions were drowning amongst themselves.
By the time she actually came to she was standing in front of the man who claimed he was a victim. The man who gazed back into her eyes and held her there in that moment, a moment she would most likely never forget because of the expression displayed across his face. He looked torn, confused, and in a way, he looked like a small child who needed someone more than ever. She realized no one was around, no one was fully paying attention or noticing the way they watched one another. Everyone was too busy looking after the dead girl displayed in the wall of the alleyway behind them. The woman had been stuffed violently into the wall to make it look as if she were crawling out of it. Her eyes and lips had been sewed shut with beautiful red thread. The ripper had created a passionate smile on the woman's face, making her appear happy and amused when in reality the traces of tears and dried up mascara told a different story. What made all of the matters worse was the fact the woman looked similar to her, and that's what made her chest feel like it was suffocating.
You were so close.
She couldn't even bring herself to look at the woman a second more before she found herself staring back at Hannibal with a passionate intensity. What was his excuse? Was he really telling the truth? If so, he was doing a pretty good job at lying to have William believe. She stepped forward, goosebumps littering her skin because the closer she got she more she felt a pull from him. It scared her more than anything but it pushed her forwards.
"How are you feeling?" She asked sitting next to him on the back of the ambulance, he begged for them to keep him there as long as Will was staying. He had told everyone he was only comfortable with Graham and that if he needed to go to the hospital that badly he'd have Will take him. She figured him showing how much he cared for his "friend" it would help gain trust with everyone at the scene. She inspected his bandaged hand and the black right eye, he also had a huge wrap around his abdomen. He seemed to know what was going through her mind as he leaned forward by an inch, his eyes closing for a split second too long.
"I'm hurting Mitka, a human body could only withstand so much."A smile spread across his lips as he began to take off his jacket, he grunted in pain as he wrapped it around her. She was taken back but he clarified with "You seem cold, just wear it you probably need it more than I do." She pulled it closer and took in the sweet scent that she had never noticed from him before. It made her melt and relax a lot more, it made her feel safe. Well, as safe as one could be when they practically have an obsessive serial killer watching their every movement.
"So, what happened?" She asked her voice smooth and soft, it was meant for his ears and his ears only.
"I suppose I should've known better, but i've had a lot on my mind lately...so after my last patient of today I decided to take a walk to the bookstore which isnt too far from here. " He glanced up "But I suppose its way too late for it to even be open, and now that I think of it...I wouldn't have made it before it closed anyways." He laughed clearly looking troubled. "I was strolling whenever I heard a woman screaming..so I peeked into the alleyway." He quieted down and looked her deep in the eyes. "it was stupid of me, but I hate seeing people in any sort of distress. So I went to help her out, by then no one was around not even the killer." he sighed. "It was far too late to save her, she was bleeding out too fast..but of course the doctor side kicked in and I started trying to get her out. That's whenever the brawl started.." he looked down at his bloody long sleeved button up shirt. He unbuttoned it to show the bandage. "He cut me, not too deep but deep enough to warn me that he wasn't messing around. Mitka, this man...he's incredibly intelligent."
