After the incident, everything happened quickly, so quickly that she seemed to forget about the time...or the days. Everything blending together into a never-ending array of questions and tests and constant surveillance. "How do you feel?" "Do you remember anything?" "What do you think he will do next?", people from all over constantly asked...they asked so much that she began to feel irritated. She felt like she was drowning in the sea of questions that it was driving her mad. What irritated her more was that Jack allowed all of it, he just watched silently always judging on actions and always expecting her to know everything.
"Its been three weeks Mit." Will explained watching her grip the small thrift store desk that sat at the opposite end of her new apartment. She hated the apartment, she hated everything and everyone, and honestly she was beginning to second guess her sanity...second guess her peers. It was all a joke and she knew it.
"Yeah, and everyone is treating it like it happened yesterday." She gritted her teeth, strands of light brown hair cascaded from her dysfunctional ponytail and onto her face. Her red eyes never stopped looking at the files from the Ripper's "Rose" case.
You were so close.
She didn't bother showing anyone the note, not even Will. She knew from the moment she saw the beautiful handwriting; gold etched into a velvet black card that glistened when turned the right way. She knew damn well it was meant for her and only her. She hated that he mocked her, she hated that he knew about her and that he was probably just as obsessed with her as she was him.
"Just...try not to worry. You haven't been the same since then and I think you need a break from it all...Please?" His voice cracked, he looked more sincere. Hell, she couldn't blame him for being worried she hardly ate, drank, or functioned outside of this case. Not sense that day. She glanced up her face softening she could feel the empty pit in her stomach and she could feel the hollowness inside of her. She'd been neglecting their friendship and all he did was just simply wait and watch her fall apart in front of him. He didn't deserve to see that, she knew he shouldn't have to witness his friend fall apart because of a case. Because she was so close.
"Okay, we can go out Will." She forced a smile and stood up, letting her hand fall from the desk and noticing how numb it felt from the pain of holding on for so long. She did that constantly now; holding onto things so she wouldn't float away, so her sanity wouldn't run like it had been wanting too. She watched him get up from the couch and walk over to her treating her as if she were fragile like he always had, but this time more as if she were wild and that she may get spooked. She ignored it and just looked up so she could meet his gaze and try and understand the part of him that cared. He had insisted she stay at his house for the first week until Jack demanded that Will distance himself. She figured it was only because Jack NEEDED Will, he really didn't need her...so he couldn't risk putting him through that kind of danger. "You know, once Jack finds out about your rebellious side...he's going to kick your ass." Her voice sounded harsh but ended with a giggle, it was probably the most she could do to try and break her mind away from the case without fully breaking it.

Will watched her struggle to remain herself around him throughout the few weeks since the murder, he watched her brain wrap itself...no EVOLVE itself to the situation. It was as if she threw away the old Mitka he knew and put on a whole new act. At first, he was surprised but realized it was probably how he was whenever he got lost in his work. In a way, it was tragically beautiful, sad really. He didn't ever want to get too close, or say too much...He was afraid..of what? Losing her.
"Well, I was thinking about dinner in the park? Something simple...maybe a picnic or something?" He fumbled around his words, his adrenaline pulsed through his veins quickly as he tried to form a plan. She needed fresh air, she needed life breathed back into her away from all of the madness. Away from that small box of an apartment that smelled too much like moth balls and old cat piss. Jack insisted she go off the map by staying in a hotel...well the hotel wasnt at all the best..or clean. Everything about this was horrible and it made his insides crawl knowing that she would probably have to live like this until they truly caught the Ripper.
"You rebel you..." She chuckled again wrapping her arms around herself. "Its totally against the rules to leave or even be around you.." She smiled which made him feel weak in the knees. He hadn't seen that smile in forever and it made him think there was actual hope. "Well i'll be outside in a few minutes, let me get dressed.." he watched her glance at herself and grumble of how disgusting she looked and how it was embarrassing for him to even see her like that. She walked off to her room and he watched before leaving out the door himself thankful that the hallway didn't reek of smoke this come around.

It didnt take them long to find their way to the park, she thanked herself for putting on a light white sweater and black leggings. The spring weather shocked her once she stepped outside with its coolness. She tried to look like she hadnt been cooped up inside her apartment but the dark circles underneath her eyes kindve hinted at it. She didnt bother of how she looked except that she had her hair down to keep from getting too cold.
"Ah, its been a while." the words escaped her mouth as Will helped her out of the car and into the park. His hand was so much bigger than hers and it kept it warm, she didnt want him to let go as he began to lead her towards a bench nearby so she didnt have to walk too far. His hair blowing in the light wind she hadnt noticed it...him in what felt like forever. The three weeks had changed so much that she almost forgot...forgot...
him.
She almost had forgotten...Hannibal. The man who was jogging towards them with a light hoodie and some jogging sweat pants. The whole outfit was a fashionable grey, but it looked so unlike him that Will cracked a smile. Hannibal cracked a smile too, but Mitka couldnt she just glared everything clicking together. Hatred flared as Hannibal's eyes met hers and it was as if he knew that she knew but she was confused...why would his eyes have compassion? Was it because she figured it all out? was it because she knew...she finally knew...it all made sense and she had to sit down and grasp the side of the bench. Will didnt notice but Hannibal did as he watched her and looked up at Will creating small talk. She couldnt listen though, she had to collect herself, and not only two minutes after she sat down her eyes met his again. 'it was you...all along, you bastard.' and just like that she smiled.
