A huge tremor awakened everyone who was asleep at the Uchiha compound.
Kaira sat upright, her eyes darting around the room as she tried to slow down her quickened breathing. The sudden shaking shocked her, and she was surprised to see that nothing fell over. It was like nothing had happened. Everything was still standing, even the tall vase on top of the small coffee table.
''An earthquake?'' She whispered to herself, putting a few strands of her dark hair behind her ear when they started to tickle her face.
Daichi's loud cries filled the room, letting everyone in the house know that he was also woken up by the abrupt tremor. Kaira pursed her lips and carefully lifted him from the bed. Holding him in her arms, she tried to soothe him by rocking him. After repeating the movement a few times, he already started to quiet down, but his breathing was still ragged
''It's alright.'' She spoke softly and she kissed his head. While she was trying to reassure him, telling him that it was probably nothing bad, she got the feeling that something was absolutely wrong. ''Will you stay here for a bit?'' Kaira murmured as she put him back down on the bed. ''I'll be right back, okay?"
Daichi responded quickly by taking a part of the fabric of his mother's shirt in his hands. He didn't want to be left alone. He didn't even need to use any words. Kaira already understood it when she saw tears pooling in his dark eyes. She sighed. ''Fine then.''
Kaira put her hands under his armpits and lifted him off the bed once again. Swinging her legs over the edge, she stood up. ''Let's go then.''
In the hallway, they passed a window, and Kaira narrowed her eyes and looked through the glass. While nothing seemed out of the ordinary, something really felt out of place. Gritting her teeth, she gave Daichi's hand a gentle squeeze.
The both of them entered the living room and Kaira frowned when she saw Izuna at the front door. He was fully dressed, wearing a pouch on his waist and his long, unruly hair tied up in a messy ponytail.
''Izuna?'' Kaira asked, stepping a bit closer to him. ''Where are you going?"
Izuna turned his head upon hearing her voice and zipped up his jacket. ''Something fell out of the sky.'' He said with a pensive expression. ''I was still awake and saw it through my window. I'm going to check it out.''
Kaira pursed her lips and nodded. She actually wanted to go herself too, but leaving Daichi behind would be irresponsible. Also, if she went, he would insist on going with her. Of course, he didn't want to be left behind in this situation. He was already scared enough.
''Has Sayuri already gone home?'' Kaira asked. ''And has Suki already come back?''
''She left a few minutes ago.'' Izuna answered. ''And Suki stays at Kiba's tonight. She just called. But I'm going now. Are you staying here?''
Kaira looked at Daichi before turning back to her brother. She didn't want Daichi to go outside now. Even though she really wanted to know what was going on, she decided to stay with her son. ''We're staying here.'' She said. ''Be careful, okay?"
Izuna nodded and opened the door

''There is a huge crater somewhere behind the Hokage Rock. Nobody was hurt.'' Izuna said, and his expression became a troubled one as he fidgeted with his cup of coffee. ''And this may be hard to believe, but the thing that caused the crater was a fragment of the moon.''
''The moon?'' Kaira repeated surprised as she handed Daichi his drink. ''How it that possible?''
''I don't know.'' Izuna replied irritably. ''And there's more. Hanabi was kidnapped last night.''
''Really?'' Kaira mumbled. ''Isn't that Hinata's sister?''
''Yeah. Naruto, Sai, Sakura, Hinata and Shikamaru are now searching for her. I ran into them about an hour ago when I went to the store.'' He said. ''I see Kakashi today at work so I want to ask him a few questions. I want to know more about this whole situation. So much is happening right now.''
Kaira nodded and stood up. She felt bad that everyone was working hard while she couldn't really do anything at the moment. ''Let me know if you find out something new, okay?'' She asked, and Izuna nodded. ''I'm going to Yuuji and then to work. You also have to go soon, right?''
Izuna took a sip of his coffee and looked at the time. ''I still have an hour before my mission.'' He muttered, and he took a sip again. ''If you don't mind, I can take Daichi to Yuuji. It's a detour for you, right? I come past his house when on my way to the Academy.''
Kaira glanced at Daichi for a second before looking back. ''Are you okay with that?" She asked slowly, almost hesitantly. Daichi stood on his toes and put the empty glass on the edge of the table.
Izuna laughed and stood up as well. ''I offered to do it, didn't I?'' He asked as he moved Daichi's glass to the middle of the table so it was less likely to fall off the table.
Kaira smiled. ''Thank you, really.'' She said, relieved. ''It really saves me some time.''
Izuna grinned and lifted Daichi from the ground, putting him on his hip. ''I'm his uncle, so I'll gladly do it.''
Kaira grabbed her bag and put it over her shoulder before she turned to Izuna and her son again. ''Daichi, Izuna is going to bring you to Yuuji's, okay?.'' She asked as she pressed a kiss to his cheek. ''I have to go to work right now. Be good, alright?''
Daichi's face fell, but he didn't voice any complaints. Just seeing the disappointment in his eyes made Kaira feel incredibly guilty ''Gorou-san told me to meet up at the main gate. It's in the opposite direction of Yuuji's house.'' Kaira explained. ''I'm sorry I can't spend much time with you lately, so to make up for it, let's go somewhere this week, okay?''
Daichi smiled and nodded enthusiastically. ''Where?'' He asked excitedly.
Kaira kissed the side of his head again and ruffled his dark hair. ''You choose.'' She grinned. ''Have fun with Yuuji.'' Kaira said, and then she looked at Izuna. ''You really helped me out there.'' She muttered as she placed her hand on his shoulder. ''Thanks again.''
Izuna smiled and patted Daichi's back. ''No problem.''

''Ah, Izuna-san.'' Yuuji greeted him after he opened the door. ''Is Kaira-san at work already?''
''Yeah, I knew she had to assemble at the main gate today so I offered to bring Daichi to you today.'' Izuna explained as he gave the small boy a small push toward Yuuji.
Yuuji smiled and leaned down to greet Daichi as well. Izuna noticed that Daichi was pretty fond of him, but that was only natural. Yuuji also looked at after him if nobody was home to take care of him.
''I'll be going now then.'' Izuna sighed as he put his hands in his pockets. ''I still need to change before I go and I can't be late again.'' He muttered sheepishly while scratching the back of his head.
''Anbu work?'' Yuuji asked as he stepped aside so Daichi could enter his home. Izuna nodded and shrugged. ''I've been summoned for a mission''
''Good luck then!'' Yuuji said, and then his eyes widened slightly as just thought of something. ''Ah, do you maybe know when Daichi will be picked up? Then I know if I should make dinner for him again or not.''
Izuna pursed his lips and lifted one hand to scratch the back of his head again. ''I actually don't know.'' He mumbled. ''I don't know till what time Kaira has to work. But I'll give Suki a call. I know that she's done early today, so I'll tell her to come and get Daichi.''
Yuuji nodded and leaned against the door frame. ''Alright then.'' He said. ''I don't want you to be late again so I won't hold you here anymore.''
Izuna chuckled. ''Yeah, then I'll see you around.''
Yuuji smiled. ''Bye.''
