Days passed.
Kaira's eyes were slowly healing. She stopped wearing the bandages, but she hadn't used the Sharingan yet, as just seeing normally was still painful now and then.
As promised, Sasuke and Daichi kept her updated, although they weren't making much progress. Apparently, a summoning tried to break into Yuuji's hospital room not long ago, but the tight security easily took it down. This was not the first time a summoning was sent after the unconscious man. It had happened several times that week.
After all, Yuuji was the key to Kaira's innocence. He was not only the victim, but also the only witness. He probably knew who attacked him that night, and it was not the female Uchiha.
Even though Yuuji was being protected, Kaira was still worried about his safety. The culprit, which Daichi claimed to be a woman, did not go after Yuuji personally. Kaira feared she would head out herself and try to put an end to Yuuji's life.
That is why her stomach knotted in fear when she got a new letter from her son.
Yuuji had woken up.

Daichi gritted his teeth, clenching his fists as he felt that he needed to kick or break something to get rid of the immense frustration he was feeling.
He wanted to see Yuuji, speak to him, but he was not allowed in the hospital room. Right now Yuuji was being questioned by Naruto while the doctors did some final checks. Naruto let Sasuke come with him, but Daichi had to stay out.
He understood that Yuuji might feel overwhelmed with so many visitors at once just after waking up, but Daichi couldn't help but want to see him anyway. Not only to ask him about the incident, but also because he was worried for him. Yuuji had taken care of him many times, he was basically a second father to him.
''Oi, stop!''
Daichi looked to the right, seeing a woman struggling to get past the gate guards. She had a bloodthirsty look on her face. The way her eyebrows were knotted together and the fierce look in her eyes told him she was up to no good. That was also most likely the reason the gate guards wouldn't let her just pass like that. The sight made Daichi frown. Something was off. He had never seen her before, but her chakra was one he had sensed before.
''Let me go!'' The brown-haired woman shrieked as she tried to get out of their grips, but the men didn't budge.
What she did next surprised not only the gate guards, but Daichi as well. His eyes widened as she pulled out a knife and stabbed the both of them. No one had seen this coming, so none of them was prepared for it. They immediately let go of her, clutching their wounds. The woman quickly pushed her way through and slipped away, running past the gate.
Daichi wasted no second and was with the gate guards just a single breath later. Examining their wounds, he came to the conclusion that they were rather shallow considering the length of the blade she used to stab them with, but he feared some vital points might have been hit when she wounds started bleeding profusely. Daichi immediately removed their flak jackets and started performing medical ninjitsu, but healing others was not his speciality. With one hand, he pulled out his phone and dialled Suki's number.
She picked up a few seconds later, and Daichi explained the situation to her, asking her to get help so the men's wounds could be treated properly.
After hanging up, Daichi activated his Sharingan and looked to what lay behind the gate. The woman was long out of sight, but he hoped to see her chakra to see in what direction she was going. His eyes widened when she saw the blue mass going into the direction he came from a few days ago.
He almost gave in to his instinct, which was going after her, but he knew he couldn't, not yet at least. If he were to leave, it could have consequences for the men he was currently trying to heal.
He needed to wait for medical support.
Altho waiting too long might have consequences for his mother.

Kaira also did not waste any time. Yuuji being awake meant she could return to the village. It bothered her she was not able to do anything to help herself while being away from Konoha, but she was also relieved that Yuuji was fine, and that she could probably return to her old lifestyle.
She knew they wouldn't just let her return like that, and that she probably had to face some sort of punishment for fighting the ANBU and running away from Konoha authorities.
Altho Naruto basically let her go by not going after her himself, it was still her own choice to leave.
She hissed when a pain shot through her head, and she held onto a thin tree to support herself when dizziness struck her. Kaira knew she should have worn the bandages longer, but she got too impatient, so she could only blame herself for the pain she was in now.
After waiting a few seconds for the pain to cease and the dizziness to disappear, she continued her walk home.
Home.
She could finally go home, sleep in her own bed and have breakfast with her own children instead of a bunch of ex-criminals who were being monitored closely by Konoha. It was nice to see Suigetsu again, and she was grateful for his help to get her a little back into shape, but she couldn't wait to surround herself with her loved ones again. It was also wonderful to have met her mother, whom she believed had been dead for a long time, but nothing beat going back to Konoha.
She had quickly said goodbye to them before leaving the hideout, but she hadn't taken the time for a proper goodbye because she believed she would see them again.
A small smile played on her lips.
She'd certainly go back to bother them with her troubles again.
But the smile on her face quickly disappeared when she heard twigs snap. She froze, hearing her own heart speed up when she only felt leaves beneath her shoes.
She was not alone in the forest.
