Chapter 17 (Reinya’s POV)

I ran as fast as my legs could take me, I followed the tree line down to the main road that connected with all of Rohan’s villages. I had a bad feeling that my old friend would no longer be living in Rohan, but it was my only choice.

Then all of a sudden I heard the thunder of hoof beats galloping towards me. My first instinct was to hide in the bushes, but maybe I could seek help from this villager. That is if he is kind hearted.

As still as stone I stood in the middle of the road, and the man galloped straight up to me. With each stride the grey gelding  carried the man closer. He wore long grey robes, and a pointy hat rested on his head. “It couldn’t be,” I mumbled to myself.

The man halted the his horse a mere three feet in front of me. And I couldn't believe it, it was my old friend I was looking for. “What is your means for standing in the middle of the road Villager?” His voice boomed, “I have urgent business to attend.”

“I am no average villager,” I smiled, he did not recognize me at first, but knowing him the sound of my voice would refresh his memory.

“Reinya,” The man asked dismounting his horse to walk over and embrace me in a hug.

“The one and only,” I replied, doing a little mock curtsy, “It tis good to see you Gandalf.” It had been at least 75 years since I had last seen him.

“You have matured immensely since I last saw you,” Gandalf smiled, “but what are you doing by yourself in Rohan?”

“I was going to ask you the same thing, but my friend Elinya is in grave danger. We must make haste,” Gandalf sensed that I was worried. Quickly he mounted his horse then held out his hand and I mounted on to the back of his horse behind Gandalf. “Gallop!” I ordered in a strong voice.

Gandalf urged his horse forward and we traveled as fast a wind without any hesitation. We traveled back to where Ravaonna was torchering poor Elinya, but we hid out of her sight.

Crouching behind a bush Gandalf finally asked, “What is going on?”

“Elinya, my friend was kidnapped by this evil wizard who was disguised as Princess Tari and now Elinya is being torchered,” I explained in a hushed voice so that only Gandalf could hear me. “We need to think of a plan and fast.”

Gandalf muttered under his breath about something for a while, too low for me to listen to what he said, before turning to me, “I recognize this wizard. I shall fight her, and you need to grab Elinya and pull her to safety, once I lure her far enough away. Follow me until I know I am going to win, otherwise I will compromise your safety, as well as Elemm-I mean, Elinya’s.”

“So you think she is Princess Elemmire too?” I asked, a bitter feeling taking to the pit of my stomach. I was going to lose yet another friend to forces I could not, and could never, compete with.

Gandalf nodded. “She is Princess Elemmire, I know that for a fact. She looks like the mirror image of Elemmire, and she had red hair. I promise I will save your friend. But, will you tell me why you call her Elinya?”

“Oh? That.” I said, laughing. “Elinya-Oops, I mean Elemmire, can’t remember a thing from before I pulled her from the stream running through my ranch. I have let her live with me, and when Prince Gorell came to take the horses from my barn away, I pulled out my old weapons-”

I looked up, pulling up my lonely boomerang, and he smiled.

“-and I became a man, with Elinya so I could monitor my horses. I had threatened Prince Gorell I would kill him if any of my horses died, so I thought it was the best way to come though with my promise. When we were training, I overheard about the Nellas Stone we were being sent out to protect and retrieve which has started this whole war. It could heal any ailment, and I thought it might retrieve her previous memories, and this was before I realized she was Elemmire. We were caught, and now she is suspected of treason.”
