I fluttered my eyes open and the deafening beep of my 7o'clock alarm rang in my ears. I rolled over in bed and slammed my alarm off. I hated school. I was in year 10 and glad it was the last two years I had to spend there, but part of me didn't want to leave. I had anxiety and dyslexia and still had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. This made me anxious and was the only reason I wanted to stay at school. Standing on my feet I lazed across the hallway to go and wake up my 12 year old sister, Alissia. I knocked loudly on her door "Ally!" I shouted, "Get up!" I had to. I mean, who else was gonna do it? Mom was at work and Dad would kill me if I woke him up. I went down stairs and put in a slice of toast for myself when it was done I ate it. Well duh! What else are you gonna do with toast? I trudged upstairs to sort my hair out and brush my teeth. I went back in my dull bedroom and got changed into a pair of ripped jeans and a black T-shirt with a Twenty One Pilots (my favourite band) logo on it, Threw on my rucksack and headed out with my sister. It was really annoying I had to walk to school with her. All she ever did was talk and talk and talk. It drove me nuts. Finally I got to school. I was early for once and all my friends were at the gate waiting for school to start. My best friend Alex was kissing his girlfriend Rose and I chuckled under my breath as he noticed me and stopped quickly. He smiled at me, waved and signaled me to come over. Lilly, Rose and Ashley were talking now and whispering in each other's ears. I walked towards Alex and hugged him. "You all right?" Alex often greeted me like that. I smiled and nodded at him. We having a general conversation about football results and stuff when Alex said something that I wasn't to sure about. "So me and the girls were thinking of going to this karaoke thing at the town hall." I nodded. "What'd you think about going?"
"Hmm I dunno... Would we HAVE to sing?" I replied.
"No. But I think we all should." Alex said. Ashley stepped in and stood next to Alex. "Come on Matt! It'll be fun!"
"OK then. Text me on our Whatsapp group what time to meet you there. OK?" Then the bell rang and we all went to our classes.
