After school I said goodbye to everyone and walked my sister back home. I was really nervous for the karaoke and knew my friends would make me sing. I did NOT want to... At all. I love my friends, the whole lot of them, but they don't understand how much anxiety affects me. I sat on my bed and looked around my room. I wondered where Dad was, probably with Mom somewhere. I didn't bother texting them to check as I knew they wouldn't answer me. I checked my messages and saw that Alex had asked for me to come over. I replied saying I'd be there in ten. "Ally!?" I shouted from my room.
"What?" She shouted back in her annoying high pitched voice. "I'm going out OK?"
"Whatever." Wow. I thought. I have such a nice sister who cares about me deeply. Obvious sarcasm. Oh well. When I got to Alex's we both sat on his bed and I asked him "will I really have to sing?"
"Well you don't have to..." I sighed with relief. "But... I double dare you so now you have to!"
"I really do hate you sometimes Alex. And... I double dare you to sing!" That got him to shut up. I had no idea what Alex sounded like. Or what I sounded like in all honesty. Around five minutes later Rose texted Alex saying to start heading to the town hall and that she and the girls where already there. I suppose it was kinda odd that I was so nervous to do a little karaoke when I doubted that any of my friends could sing either. Alex and I put on our jackets and left his flat. We arrived at the town hall and opened the wooden door. There were pictures of the countryside and beaches hanging of the blue painted walls. Ashley, Lilly and Rose were waiting for us among the crowd wich was bigger than I expected it to be. I could feel my nerves rising. We all agreed we would sing in alphabetical order. "So, Alex first, then me, after me is Lilly, then Matthew-" I interrupted Ashley. "Um Ash?"
"What Matt?" She said, sounding slightly agitated. "Can I sing last?"
"I suppose so, if that's OK with Rose."
"Yeah that's cool with me." Rose was obviously pretty confident with her singing voice. We told the man who organised the kareoke what order we were singing in and after that hilariously Alex's name was first to be called. He pushed his blonde hair behind his ear and walked on stage. "What are you gonna be singing?" The man asked Alex. "Um... Twenty One Pilots uh... Ride."
The man nodded and the music started playing. I looked round at Ashley I think she was either filming Alex or taking a selfie. Knowing her, she was probably filming Alex singing. Honestly he was OK at the rapping parts but tragic at the singing. I couldn't help but chuckle. Ashley sung "I Knew You Were Trouble" by Taylor Swift and sounded really good. Lilly sang "Demons" by Imagine Dragons and sounded pretty rubbish. Rose sang "Heart Attack" by Demi Lovato and sounded INCREDIBLE. She definitely had a reason to be confident. Then I realised... I was next. I gulped and walked on stage nervously.
