I woke up the next morning with a smile on my face. I had waited months for Andy to kiss me. It was everything I'd hoped and more. I looked up and smiled at Angel as she padded down the stairs. "Good morning, sweetie."
"Good morning, Allie." She climbed into my lap and watched Andy sleep. He looked so peaceful. I was glad he was sleeping, as he hadn't slept much in the last week. She weakly squeezed his hand and turned her attention to me. "Can we make pancakes?" she beamed."Of course, baby." She climbed onto my back and we made our way to the kitchen. It took us a little over twenty minutes to make ten pancakes. I loved watching Angel smile as she arranged the pancakes on a plate for Andy. She insisted on taking him breakfast.
I followed her into the living room where Andy was sleeping on the couch. She gently shook him until he woke up. "Good morning, Princess," he smiled.
"We made pancakes," she cheered.
He smiled at me. "Thanks, girls." We finished our pancakes and Andy and Angel headed home. I was sad to see them go, but I had so much to do before school the next day.
I was finishing up my essay when Andy called. I checked the clock, only 9:30. Good, it took my a little over two hours to write about my break.
"Hey, beautiful," Andy said when I answered. "How was your day?"
"Pretty boring, just finishing up homework. Yours?"
"It wasn't that bad, actually. Mom actually smiled today." I could hear the bittersweet joy in his voice.
"That's great." We sat in silence for a moment.
"Uh, Allie?" Andy questioned.
Here it comes, I thought, the "I wasn't thinking straight" speech. "Hmmm?" I asked, pretending to be slightly distracted.
"About last night. I was wondering, where do we stand?" He paused. "Are you my girlfriend because that would be great, but if we're just friends, that's cool, too."
I smiled to myself. Yes! This is exactly what I was waiting for. "Well, you never really asked me to be your girlfriend," I said, trying to play it cool,
"Allie, I have to go, I'll talk to you tomorrow."
