MAYA P.O.V.
Riley and I walk towards Abigail Adams Highschool. It has
been weeks since the first day of school and we're finally starting to fit in. I've joined the art club, Zay and Lucas are in the baseball team, and Smackle and Farkle are in a club. I don't know what it's called cause it's for smart people. And I don't do smart.
"Today is cheerleading tryouts and I'm hyped!!" Riley squealed. Sometimes I wonder why Riley didn't make the cheerleading team in middle school. I totally would have picked her. She's so happy!
"Yea but please don't turn into one of those bitches if you make it. You know how I hate some of those cheerleaders." Riley laughs. "Of course I won't Maya. You won't let me." We both laugh at that.
We meet up with Smarkle and Lucas. Lucas instantly walks to Riley and puts his arm around her shoulder. I roll my eyes but deep down, jealously hits me like a truck. Farkle eyes me with a sympathetic smile but goes back to Smackle.
Farkle knows about my crush. He's always stayed by my side when Riley and Lucas get all "couple" like. He was my protector. But now things have changed. He has Smackle now.
Lucas Friar. Oh man was he a sight to see. Lucas is your everyday hottie. But he isn't all about getting girls and being an absolute fuckboy. He's a great guy. That I can't have.
We met in the subway one day and I instantly had my eyes on him. The problem was, Riley did to. Lucas saw me but you can tell that he liked Riley more. He loved her from first sight. I could tell by his eyes. It was lust. So being a great friend, I stepped back. I pushed her to Lucas' lap and it's history. The kids in our school ship them. They call them Rucas. "Omg Rucas is the cutest couple ever." "I love them so much." Blah blah blah.
"So Maya," I turn my head to see Lucas staring. I nod my head. "I heard about how your art got into an art convention."
"So Huckleberry? Like you even care!" I roll my eyes but I can tell Lucas said otherwise.
"Well Riley showed me the piece and it looks really good." Lucas replies. I blush and put my hair behind my ear. Control yourself . It was only a compliment. Lucas the Good. Always making people smile.
"Thanks Ranger Rick." I give him a salute and head towards my locker. I open it and grab my Spanish and History book. Before I close my locker, I see Farkle walking towards me. He does not look happy.
"What's up with you Farkle." I said sarcastically. He ignores me and slams my locker shut. Oh that definitely grabs people's attention. Before I can rant about how people are staring, I'm being dragged by Farkle! Farkle out of all people! I didn't know this day would come!
We go towards an empty classroom. He locks the door behind me and stares at me.
"
What the heck Farkle!!" I straighten myself up and grab Farkle's shirt. "Don't you ever drag me again, you hear me?!" He nods vigorously and I let go. He fixes his shirt then breaths.
"I see the way you look at him Maya. It's not the same way a friend would look at another friend. It's filled with lust. Everyone sees it Maya. We know you like Lucas." Wait Riley knows. Oh no. "I want for you to be happy but not everyone knows that your not. You stepped back for Riley all this time. Aren't you sick of it? Don't you want Lucas to hug and kiss you? Don't you want him to feel the same way about you. I care about you Maya and I don't want to see you get hurt. You hate them together. You say it makes you happy to see Riley being happy but in reality, it kills you."
I start taking in what Farkle said. He's right. I hate seeing him with Riley. I have this pit inside that has a rage full of envy. I want Lucas, I want of call him my boyfriend and take me on dates. I want him to hold my hand. I want to kiss him like it's the end of the world. I want him to be mine.
Before I can stop it, tears start flowing down on my face. Farkle embraces me and starts patting my head.
"It's okay Maya. Everything is gonna be alright."
