Sam looked back at Amanda who was paying attention to the rain dripping down the side of the window. He smiled slightly at the funny look of concentration she had for following the one droplet of rain.
"Have you ever been to California", Sam asked making Amanda jump. She nods and straightens the old dress.
"About a hundred years ago", she said looking straight at Sam. He smiled and just thought of how funny it was that someone so old and experienced still got entranced by small things.
He turned back around and looked at her through the rearview mirror instead. "What was it like", he asked.
"It was around 1921 and California was way overpopulated if you ask me. But the Jazz in the big city was amazing. The bars and booze just got better the more you went. The people there were all sorts of attractive", she smiles in remembrance.
Dean felt a tug at his lips. He smiled slightly trying to hide it but it was good. She had good memories and no blood.
"What about you", she asked turning her head away from the dewey window. "You ever been to California?"
"We'll sort of", Sam said. "It was a long time ago when Dad was on a case. We stayed there but never really saw it."
Amanda nods and then looks back out the window. "Things won't be the same as they were", she mumbles softly.
The radio wailed with the voice of Sting. Roxanne. Amanda remembered this song and smiled.
"They still play this", she said slightly laughing. "It's been what? Thirty years?"
"Don't knock a classic", Dean said seriously.
"I love this song! I just thought by now they would've stopped playing it", Amanda said scooting to the middle seat.
Sam looked over at Dean smiling and laughing. "What", Dean asks looking from the road to Sam.
"Oh nothing, just you have a common interest with Amanda and you can't deny it", Sam said with a lopsided smirk showing off his dimples.
Dean huffed and looked back at the road. Amanda was swaying her hips to the music as best she could in a vehicle, her eyes were closed while she slightly hummed along.
"I can't help but notice I'm going to look out of place", Amanda said after the song ended.
Dean looked at her through the rearview mirror while Sam turned. "I'm not complaining I just didn't think you wanted your cover blown", Amanda said twisting her thumbs around each other slightly.
"So what we take you shopping", Dean asks. "Incase you haven't noticed, sweetheart we aren't exactly made of money."
"I wasn't saying we shop", Amanda said nonchalantly. "We could just steal."
Deans and Sam both looked at her incredulously. "We can't exactly do that because of witnesses and cameras. We'd be put in jail", Sam said.
"We wouldn't be caught", Amanda says shrugging. "I've done it before."
The Winchesters look at each other and then sigh. Dean knew she was right. She'd look out of place and blow their cover as FBI agents if he let her come.
"Fine, but we can't get anything too expensive or too much", Dean sighed.
"Have you seen the price for bras lately? I can't help if it's a little expensive", Amanda says unabashedly.
Dean and Sams faces heat up trying not to look at the woman behind them. "Well just try", Dean said.
Amanda nodded unaware of the awkwardness of her previous sentence. She leaned over the first row of seats to turn up the radio and slunk back into her seat.
