I woke up to hear knocking on glass. At first, I thought it was the window until I heard it come from the mirror again. I looked at the mirror, and I saw- me? I wasn't lying in bed; I was frantically trying to get my own attention? Knowing I was going to regret it in the morning, I got out of bed. The air was cool against my skin.

'What are you doing?' I signed to myself.

'Let me out and I'll explain' I signed back. (She signed back?) I really hope this is all a dream. Sighing, I picked up a book from my nightstand, and I smashed the mirror. Out fell my reflection. She wildly started collecting all of the fragments of glass. I waited; she must be doing something important. When she was done collecting all the pieces, she tucked them into a satchel.

"Can you speak English?" I asked her.

"Yes, and before you ask, you should call me Gen. I know you are Cleo."

"Who are you? Why are you here? Wh- just tell me everything."

"I am your second half. Every homo sapien is born with one, and our duty is to care for you, provide subconscious thoughts, and find your Soulmate. When you die, we are both reincarnated together. I am your soul, essentially, and someone wants me dead. If I die, you continue living. I'm sure you understand how important I am to both your happiness and your survival." Gen explained to me. I was speechless. "Please, I have told you too much already. I need to remain in your world for some time. If I go back, I will die. I assume you will provide me with shelter and sustenance."

"I suppose I can help you. It clearly benefits both of us." I said after an awkward silence. "Grab some pajamas; they're in the bottom drawer. You can sleep with me, I'm just going to try and sleep."
