A month before school had started and all the drama had began Dumbledore had arranged a meeting for him and McGonagall. This was not their first meeting. Tea was served along with a few sweets. When McGonagall entered of course there was a lot of questions she asked. The first being why she was there.
Dumbledore answered slowly "Minerva for many years the tradition of head boy and girl has been in Hogwarts. Another tradition not recognised by many is linked to this tradition" McGonagall looked impatiently at him as he spoke "this tradition is that the head boy and girl often wind up in a long lastly relationships. There is a simple reason for this the headmaster chooses head boy and girl so they do get into a relationship. It has been a game of sorts for headmasters in Hogwarts for generations. Sadly it has started to bore me, but I have found a couple that would not only be challenging to mate up, but truly perfect for each other".
McGonagall's mouth fell open "That is absolutely barbaric in nature. This is someone's life we are talking about. These are students Albus!".
He let out a chuckle "Minerva my dear old friend this is just a simple push that has never ended badly in all of Hogwarts history. It is a way of guidance for are young students" he grinned now knowing his argument might have one "besides Minerva they are almost always a match made in heaven". McGongall relaxed a little, but her lip still formed a thin line showing her doubt.
She sighed "So who are the two students you are trying to hook up using your crazy antics?" She watched him slowly for a response.
He was now openly grinning ear to ear "Draco Malfoy and Hermione Granger are going to be the knew head girl and boy".
At this McGongall was on her feet. "Albus you must really be a insane. I have always tried to defend you, but this is not a match made in heaven. It is a match made in hell. Even if these two were to work out their cultures and the way they were raised are so different! You must be joking".
He smiled again "Actually it is a match made in hogwarts. Minerva Hermione is an exceptional witch who is more than capable of swaying people's hearts. Not only that, but Draco and Hermione have more in common then any other student in the school. They just are not aware of it because they were on opposite sides of the battlefield so long. Not even Miss Granger's family could be a problem due to the unfortunate results of the war. I think if they both tried they would have a more powerful union then anyone I have ever meet. Possibly stronger then anyone in wizarding history. This would also solve the problem of the doubt out on the Malfoy family and the influence the young Granger has over wizarding society once her friends are all married off".
McGongall sighed "Albus I guess there is nothing I can do. I just hope you are right about all of this. If I ever become head mistress I will make sure I put people who already seem they are meant to be together. Instead of possibly breaking to of the most powerful people that will be in our wizarding society". He nodded in reaction to what she was saying knowing it was all in good intention. They continued to eat and have tea working out the kinks.
"Minerva in order for it to work I need you to create a lounge, kitchen, and bathroom they can all share that will highlight that there difference can mesh make it Gryffindor and Slytherin themes. Also make their rooms how you feel they would enjoy it" McGongall made a small face and nodded.
"Alright Albus I'll start on it straight away I even know the perfect spot. Maybe to help make both of them more at home we can assign Dobby as their house elf?". She felt the deepest shame as she realized she was helping, but had no choice because she knew there was no stopping Dumbledore once he had his mind set.
