Wednesday

Madeline woke up to her dad yelling in her face once again. Her eyes were still red from the crying last night. Her chest still had a bruise from where he punched her. He had hurt her worse before so this wasn't as bad as it could be. She did her regular morning routine and got in the car with her dad.

"Why are your eyes all red? Do you have pink eye or something?" Her dad said leaning away from her.

"No dad. I was crying last night."

"Crying is for babies."

"Right. Sorry."

Madeline got to school and Sara was there waving her arm crazy at her like she always does.

"OMG OMG OMG!! Guess what?"

"What now Sara?"

"Luke and Vanessa broke up!"

"Oh uh yeah I know." She tried saying without blushing.

"You know already? How?"

"Well you weren't here yesterday to tell me but I-uh heard it around..the school."

"Oh okay."

They walked to their lockers and then to first period. And there he was. Sitting at Madeline's desk.

"Um why is he in my seat?" Sara whispered to Madeline who couldn't stop smiling.

Then she finally snapped back to reality. "Oh um the teacher moved him yesterday. Shoulda been here."

"Excuse me Teacher where am I supposed to sit?"

"Oh um. Just sit in Mr. Hemmings old spot."

Vanessa wasn't here again. Madeline sat down at her seat next to Luke.

"Hey doll face." He said with a huge smile on his face.

"Hi." Madeline adored Luke's lip ring that sat perfectly on his soft pink lips.

"So um do you still want to go get coffee after school?"

"No."

"Oh um oka-"

"I'm just kidding. Of course I still want to."

"Great." They both sat there all hour just smiling at eachother and not paying attention to anything going on around them.

"Excuse me? Is my teaching interrupting you?"

"No you're fine. Carry on." Madeline said without taking her eyes off of Luke.

"Excuse me?"

"You heard her, Teach." Luke said.

"Both of you go to the office now."

"Okay" Madeline and Luke both said as they got up. Sara gave her a weird kind of 'what's going on?' look. Madeline shook her head.

"Are we really going to the office?" Madeline asked Luke.

"Hell no. Let's go get our coffee now." He said with a huge grin on his face. Madeline couldn't do anything but smile at him.

They walked out the back of the school and got in Luke's car. They drove into town and stopped at a coffee shop. They both ordered coffee with 2 cream and sat down at a table.

"Are you sure you're okay with skipping school?"

"Yeah it's fine. It's not like we were paying attention anyways." She winked at him.

"I really like you." Luke said without hesition and a serious look on his face. Madeline couldn't stop herself from blushing.

"Really? Didn't you and Vanessa like just break up?"

Luke shifted his eyes off into the distance. "I don't care about her anymore doll face. I care about you. And I have for a while now."

"I really like you too, Luke. But are you sure you still don't have feelings for her?"

"Yes I'm sure." Luke lifted up her chin then ran his fingers across the side of her face then kissed her on the cheek. Madeline's eyes lit up when she felt his warm soft lips on her cheek. They sat there smiling at eachother for what seemed like forever.

"Um I think our coffee is getting cold." Madeline said with a little laugh.

"Oh yeah haha."
