Pearl up top^
I woke up in nothing but my pink bra and panties. That usually doesn't bother me but the fact that my boss was in nothing but his boxers underneath me on my couch put a wrinkle between my brows. I got off him and took a quick shower letting my hair dry naturally I went to the kitchen to make breakfast. It was 8:00 am, gross. 'It's a beautiful morning.'
Around 9:00 Trent came in and sat at the island. "Good morning." I said and he grunted in response. I put an ibuprofen and orange juice in front of him and went back to frying the bacon and eggs. Ten minutes later I sat next to him with our food.
It's like a button was pushed inside of me. I don't know if it was the fact that it was no longer the anniversary of her death or the fact that we spent a lot of yesterday just talking, hell it might be because I'm hungover. But I was suddenly very aware of how close I was to Trent. I want to practice my alliteration.
I honestly thought of him as someone I could tell all my secrets to. ' I'm fucking crazy it hasn't even been a day.' For a moment I swore he felt the tension too but he didn't comment or anything.
"Pearl." He said carefully like I was going to be mad at what he's about to say. I made direct eye contact with him and gestured for him to continue. " I don't know what's going on through that head of yours-" A constant replaying of the song It's a Beautiful Morning was my first thought. His back became tense. "But I had a lot of fun with you in the time we spent together. I hope that when you start working tomorrow that it won't be weird for you." I smiled knowing that it would be weird but we deal.
"I hope so too and maybe you can sleep over again sometime." I knew damn well not to shit where I eat but I don't care I was gonna have a relationship with my boss. It's like I can feel it in my bones. I didn't realize it but I was slightly leaning into him. He was looking at me sideways with a cheesy grin on his face.
"You're weird Pearl." Was his brilliant response. "As are you Trent." I said putting emphasis on his name. His grin grew ten times bigger stretching from ear to ear.
After we finished eating we chat for a bit before we said our goodbyes then Trent left. I still had time before I go to Nova so I took an irrelevant shower, to ease my swimming muscles. Then went to pick what color will look best on me today. I decided on a warm opalescent orange.
I'm not looking at clothes or swimsuits or anything like that. Being a daughter of Poseidon has its perks because I was choosing what color I want my scales to be. Since I'm going to Nova, the mermaid city near Florida, I'll need a tail. Poseidon and his descendants are well received amongst mer-folk. They get all guppy-eyed when they hear my name. Only my two best friends know who I am. Mazu who is from an eastern Asian mermaid city. And Ceto from the Greek Mermaid city where my dad trained me for a while.
I brushed my teeth, did away with my armpit hair and left for the boardwalk. 'It's a beautiful morning.' The sun felt very nice today. 'Good job Helios you're my favorite guy right now!' My legs started to get tired so I went inside a small store bathroom. I concentrated on a deserted part of the beach and felt the familiar feeling of my whole body falling numb and feeling like static but as soon as it came, it went and I was standing on a section of the beach that happened to be a strangers private property. Oops.
I gently walked into the water until I was waste deep then put a protective bubble around my knapsack holding my phone and various human articles then summoned my tail and scales. It feels like a massage and then I'm horizontal and my boobs are scaly. I see my floating bubble of possessions and anchor it to my waist.
