"No."

"I wasn't asking you, Stephanie." Jason rolls his eyes, stuffing his hands into his pockets. Stephanie just hardens her glare on him, her jaw clenching and unclenching. I shrug, nodding at Jason and pull him around the corner of my small single bedroom apartment.

Jason doesn't say a word, just following me to where I was leading him to. I turn to face him, my eyebrow raised in a questioning manner. He purses his lips for a second before taking the bottom one under his teeth.

He doesn't say anything, his eyes locked right onto me as if he were assessing me like I'm some sort of situation that needs to be fixed. Jason's lips remain sealed, his eyebrows only the tiniest bit furrowed and his eyes holding the slightest glare. I fiddle with my fingers, squirming under Jason's dominant gaze. His shoulder leans against the wall, his arms folded over his broad chest and the bottom of his right leg is crossed over the left. I grow impatient, Jason's silence being the highest contributing factor.

"Well? Didn't you want to talk to me?"

"I made a mistake sharing my identity with you so soon," He says. "I don't trust that you won't tell anyone else."

"But you said-"

"I don't care what I said." He spits, his voice dripping with frustration. "I was an idiot and for some stupid reason I was unacceptably vulnerable for the last couple of nights."

"I won't tell anyone, Jason. I was never going to, if that's what you're talking about."

"No-yes, but that's not what I m-" Jason stops and takes a deep breath, pinching the bridge of his nose. "You're right, I don't trust you with my identity but not only because you'll tell. Knowing who I am puts you in a dangerous position and it makes you a liability."

"It's too late now, Jason," I shrug, looking anywhere but his eyes. I don't care if he doesn't trust me and I don't care if this puts me in harms way because I came to came to this city knowing that it's not safe for girls like me; girls who don't know how to live in a place such as Gotham. "Besides, who would I tell?"

"Stephanie."

"Stephanie already knew, dumbass." I roll my eyes, snickering at his stupid accusation.

I figured that Steph already knows about him from the way she had stressed for me not to go anywhere near him, but I still don't know how. But that's something for me to find out later and it's not like it's the most important thing on my mind at the moment.

"Fine. But you cannot let anyone else know," He sighs, "Bru- I mean, Batman, already has a problem with my inability to keep my identity hidden and I don't need that to become worse than it already is."

"Oh my god, you work with Batman?!"

"No!" Jason almost yells, his voice stern and close to angry. A flicker of angst in his eyes disappears as soon as it came. It's like that small emotion had switched a flick in my mind because it's only now that I notice the amount of pain and agony that his ocean blue eyes hold. Even though his gaze is sharp as a knife and his glare is hard as a stone, they show a story of hurt and betrayal and just how broken he must be. "I do not work with Batman."

"Then why would- "

"It slipped," He says, the excuse swiftly rolling off his tongue. "I don't fight with him anymore."
