"Mine..."

Melody

Melody had the best sleep of her life. Sleeping against Zavian's chest felt like heaven to her. His melodic heartbeat soothed her troubled soul. She was partially upset at herself for breaking down in front of him but she couldn't control her panic attacks. When they happened, she wasn't in control of her body. Something would take over her and make her body feel weak. She couldn't breathe steadily and her heart would feel like a baboon trying to escape her chest. If she found the strength to just take in slow deep breaths, she would be fine.

Melody usually needed someone to coach her into her breathing. Zavian so happened to be that person there at the right time. She thought he would judge her for the scar on her arm and her freaking out. But to her surprise, he didn't. Instead, he put the S on his chest and saved her from the heartache of watching him reject her. She found him to be the strangest guy she'd ever met. Here he was, holding a girl he barely knew who treated him terribly because of her own insecurities. She owed him for his generosity and Melody was determined to let her guard down just a little with him.

Melody tossed and turned on the bed when she didn't feel Zavian's warm body anymore. Her eyes were heavy from the crying she'd done the night before. She groaned softly as she stretched her arms out wide before sitting up and wiping the crust out of her eyes. She took time with opening her eyes. One by one, she opened them slowly then blinked her eyes to rid them of the blurriness. Once her vision was clear, she looked around the room and grew sad at the sight of Zavian not being there.

Melody began to wonder if her frantic attack and scarred arm, really did run him away. Maybe he just felt sorry for her that night and decided to hold her until she fell asleep then went ghost on her. Most men wouldn't have even put up with her for that long. So, she commended him for it. At least he didn't just leave her there to die. He was a gentleman about it. Although, his running away wasn't gentleman like behavior.

Running her fingers through her curly locks, she paused at the heavenly aroma coming from outside her room. The aroma smelled like tea mixed with the sugary and delicious smell of raw honey and sugar lumps. Melody squinted her eyes as she slowly got out of her bed and tip toed down the hallway to her kitchen. The sight of Zavian standing there making what looked like tea, made her heart skip a beat and she bit down on her lip to keep from smiling.

Her eyes scanned his body and she immediately noticed his change of clothes. He didn't have on his outfit from the night before. Zavian was now wearing a plain white tee, black sweatpants, a gray and black Oakland Raiders snapback and black and gray Nikes were on his feet. He looked comfortable in her house. The way he went through her refrigerator like it was nothing, made her smile a little and she put her hands behind her back as she slowly crept up to him so that she was in his eye view.

Zavian stirred the tea slowly then raised his head up to meet her eyes and he smiled wide. "Good morning, baby" He pressed a quick soft kiss to her lips as he placed the mug carefully into her hands. "That's hot. So be careful. How did you sleep?" He asked while placing the box of tea bags back in the top cabinet. Melody stood there with a surprised look on her face for a moment before she walked to the sink and hopped on the counter beside it, sipping the delicious tea slowly as she relished in it.

The tea was good, it wasn't too sweet or too bland, it was just right. She stared at him for a few seconds, taking in all of his features from the top of his head down to his feet. He was even gorgeous from behind. Melody cleared her throat and looked down at the tea in her cup as she answered him, "I slept good. Thank you for staying..." Zavian waved her off then grabbed a carton of eggs out of her refrigerator and a mixing bowl out of her cabinet before he walked over to her. "It's no problem. You don't have to thank me for that"
