Danny's POV:
November 1st 2016
6 am: Eastern time zone
"Now you all know the president's orders. If they are hostile, shoot them in the head and save as many tourists as possible. Delta two, you will be sent to the Mississippi base, Delta five, fort Thomas. You all have been trained for this day, so make your country proud." My sergeant yelled. I still never could understand why he couldn't talk in a normal voice. Just be like Bob Ross. Use a happy voice because we're happy soldiers.
My team was Delta two, so we were being sent to Mississippi. We never got much information, apparently, even the president doesn't even know what's going on.
"Branson." Michael nodded and I nodded back. "Private." I said in a stern voice.
I was top ofmy command for this assignment, but before we was shipped off I skyped my wife making sure she was okay. She resided in Arizona, My home state but being in the army, I was gone almost all the time. I even missed my two-year-old daughter's second birthday.
"Danny! Baby, oh my God! I've been watching the news all day, please tell me we will be safe!" She cried and I sighed.
"Baby listen, listen to the news. Do not drink water out of the sink, go stock up on bottled water. They don't know if this came from the water, and we're almost positive it isn't airborne, but lock all the doors doors. This virus is spreading fast and it will most likely be hitting you soon. Baby, I love you."
"I love you too. I miss you. Be safe honey and Krystal is sleeping or id let you see her. She misses you too." She cried. She was always so dramatic, but my wife was the only woman who could ever have my heart, and my children, and she was so brave.
"I will baby, I gotta go, I love you." I said again as I put my hand to the screen and she followed me and placed her hand on it too. If only I could really touch her soft hands, I would never let go.
She muttered an I love you too, and I got my duffel bag ready and we boarded the plane to Mississippi.
"Captain, what are we supposed to do? They are saying children are also infected, are we really just going to shoot them?" Private Thomas asked. He was my first in command, and also my best friend.
"Jake, we have to follow orders. Anything hostile needs to be shot in the head. Just stay calm, everything will be okay." I assured him and patted his shoulder then stood up to address my troops, since we was almost there.
"Now listen, we have strict orders to shoot the hostiles in the head. Not in the arm, chest, or legs, it seems as though whatever virus this is, nothing we do will phase them unless they are shot directly into the head. Private Thomas asked a good question a few seconds ago. He asked me if we are supposed to shoot kids? If they are hostile, the answer is yes. Remember the job you signed up for, and remember that these people are not their selves, and whatever you do, do not let them bite you." I said in a stern voice and all the soldiers saluted me and I nodded.
"Delta two let me get a-"
"Hoorah!" They chanted.
"I Can't really hear you, ladies!" I yelled.
"Hoorah!" They chanted to my satisfaction.
"Alright, let's do this." I nodded in approval, and everyone started chanting again.
We got off the plane and found our way to the base from a huge bus. Jackson Mississippi looked quiet, with barely any cars and sirens every five minutes or so. I wasn't sure if my evaluation meant I was paranoid, or prepared. Either way, my eyes were open to any and all threats.
