Katherine's POV

The bell rings as I'm approaching home room. Shit now I'm late. "Nice of you to joins us, Ms. Middleton!" Mrs. Flint says when I enter. I slouch into the desk next to a girl that I am closer friends with than most, Victoria.

Victoria is the type that is always hooking up with different guys. Some call her a slut or a whore, but honestly as long as she's happy I don't care what she does. She also happens to be the only person in Emerald Cove who knows that I am a lesbian.

It's not like I told her. She happened to see me kissing a female tourist under the pier the summer after freshman year. I was terribly embarrassed that I had been caught. If my mother found out about my little secret she would kill me. I don't want to even think about how that conversation would go. That's why I officially never plan on coming out of the closet. I'm just glad that Victoria is a good person.

As Mrs. Flint passes out schedules and starts in on her "This-school-year-I-expect-nothing,-but-the-best-from-this home-room" bs, my mind wonders back to the brunette beauty who is currently wearing my clothes somewhere in a room near by. Charlotte is absolutely beautiful. She has long, thick, wavy brown hair. It's the type of hair that you just want to put your hands in. She has these huge blue eyes that seem almost too blue. It's like she looks into your soul with those eyes. However, as physically beautiful as she is, what attracts me the most about her is her personality. She feisty and always has been. She is the most intelligent person I know and she is also funny without even trying.

God I am in too deep. But haven't I always been? I have been head over heels in love with Charlotte since the beginning of freshman year. She was a new student at our school, one of the scholarship kids. We have a private school that offers up scholarships to families who couldn't attend other wise. Usually these scholarships are given to athletic kids or, as in Charlotte's case, those who are academically advanced. That first day she held her head high and walked through the school with this silent confidence that just comes natural to her. She intimidated the hell out of me!

About a week after she started at our school, I left one of my classes to use the restroom. When I walked in the girls restroom I could hear someone crying. I wasn't sure who it was and still have no idea who it was, but what I do know is that Charlotte was in there with that person cooing softly to them and telling them that it would all be alright. That moment absolutely melted my heart and it was in that moment I realized that I was in love with her.

I'm brought out of my revere by Victoria elbowing me in the shoulder. "What's up with you?", she whispers with a worried expression.

"You know how sometimes you really like someone and then you spill coffee all over that person and you know that they officially hate you? Yeah that's my day." I say with a sigh.

Victoria's expressions go from worry to confused to humor in less than a seconds time. "What?... Oh no... No!", she screeches causing several people around us to look her way. I groan and put my head in my hands as she gets herself under control. Victoria has been obsessed with the whole me in love with Charlotte thing since I told her. She has made it her personal mission to get us together. She swears that Charlotte is just as much in love with me as I am with her. "I'm sure she doesn't hate you. She has to know its was an accident.", she whispers after a few minutes.

After home room I suffer through two classes until lunch. I'm making my way through the lunchroom when I spot Charlotte. I consider going up to her and apologizing again, but then I spot her douchebag boyfriend, Luke, hanging all over her. My stomach drops and I'm not longer interested in eating. I'm heading out of the lunchroom when Victoria finds me and pulls me out the courtyard looking like she's about to bounce out of her skin. "Oh my god, Katherine!" she squeals excited, "Are those your clothes she's wearing? She looks absolutely adorable in them!" I blush and then she starts laughing so hard she can barely stay standing. "Wait! Wait! You've... been trying... to get in her pants... for 3 years now... And.... and now she's in yours!" she sputters between fits of laughter.

"This is why I don't like you," I say harshly to her as I storm off to my other classes. I'm so done with today.

The rest of my day has been painful, but I only have one more class to go and then I can go burn off some steam at softball practice. Speaking of which I have to go home to get clothes now.

A guy that I know through my mothers group of friends sits down next to me and starts talking about who knows what. I nod and smile like I'm paying attention, but really I just want him to go away. That's when I feel a body hit me from behind. I instantly reach out to grab the person in order to help steady them so that they don't fall. That's when I look up into those beautiful blue eyes that haunt my dreams. "We've got to stop running into each other like this," I state with a smirk.

"Everyone take your seats. We've got a lot to cover today. This is advance economic. We don't have time for first day goofing off," Mr. Henderson states. Once everyone was in place he passed out the necessary first day documents as he said, "First order of business is to talk about your final projects. This project will count for 70% of your grade in this class. Thus, if you don't do it or don't do it well, you will fail. Now you'll have plenty of time to work on this project as most of your major grades in this class will surround your project. For this project you will have a partner, of my choosing. You and your partner will create a business. We will get more into this, but everything you learn in this class will be applied to all the documents you have to create in order to complete you final project. Now for assignment of partners. When I call your names get your stuff and move to were you can sit next to each other. If you don't already know your partner you will by the end of this class because you're going to be spending a lot of time with that person. Ben and Lisa; Sarah and Olivia..." I zone out until I hear my name which is the next to last name called. The only one called after me is my partner. "Lastly we have Katherine and Charlotte..." I effectively heard nothing else because now I'm sliding into a table next to Charlotte.
