Katherine's POV

Being away from Charlotte for so long has near killed me. It felt like my heart had been ripped from my chest. How am I this madly in love with her? I mean I know I've had the biggest crush on her for the longest, but now it feels like she is the breath that keeps me alive. Not being around her felt like I couldn't breath.

My trip was alright. I had fun skiing during the days, but the evenings were spent rubbing elbows with the snobby upper crust. My mother spent most of her time trying to wed me off to one of my father's law school buddy's son. He was dreadful. Don't get me wrong he was what most girls would consider very handsome, but because of this he thought he was God's gift to the world.

None of that matter now. We landed about an hour ago and just got home. I could barely contain my excitement. I rushed to get me bags upstairs and changed clothes as quick as I could. I sprinted down the stairs and bound out the door before my mother could stop me.

I pulled up to Charlotte's house and checked my reflection in the mirror. I didnt even know if she was at home. It was mid-afternoon and I didn't text her to let her know that I was home or even coming over. I got out of the car and made my way up to the house. I knocked on the front door and waited for a response. I tried not to look too disappointed when Mark answered the door. "Is Charlotte home?" I asked politely. He nodded his head, but didn't budge from he position of blocking the doorway. He locked eyes with me and crossed his arms over his chest.

"I love my baby sister, Katherine... If you hurt my sister I will make sure you regret the day you met her. Take care of her." He said never breaking eye contact. After a few minutes he moved out of the doorway heading back into the house he called over his shoulder, "she's in her room."

I stood there stupidly for a few minutes. Did he know about us? Did she tel him about us? Did he just threaten me? I quickly recovered from my tutor and made my way as calmly as I could to Charlotte's room. Her room was closed so I knocked gently on it and waited a few seconds before I heard her call out to come in.

I opened her bedroom door to see her sitting in the middle of her bed with books surrounding her and her laptop in her lap. She was punching away at keys and so engrossed in what she was doing that I took her a moment to realize that I was standing there watching her.

When she looked up, she quickly pushed her laptop away as she leaped from the bed and into my arms. I held her close with one arm while using the other to close her bedroom door. I wasn't sure if her parents were home, but I'm sure seeing us in such and intimate embrace wouldn't be the best thing.

We see good there for a few minutes just holding each other close. I missed this. I missed her.

"I missed you so freaking much," she said kissing me passionately. "How was your trip? Tell me everything."

She moved to the bed gathering up her books so that we could lay down and hold each other. We stayed like that for a while. Just laying there holding each other close and talking.

A sudden knock at her bedroom door had us bolting apart and straightening our clothes. Mark stuck his head in the door and rolled his eyes at us. "Hey... Not sure if you two have plans tonight, but I'm taking a girl I met a few months ago to a concert at the pier over at the New Year's Eve bash at the beach. Do you two want to tag along?"

Charlotte grinned mischievously and said "What girl? You didn't tell me about a girl."

"I don't tell you everything, Charlotte. Besides ypu didn't tell me about a girl either," he said lifting his eyebrow at her. She stared at him in shocked silence blushing a deep crimson.
