Chapter 9

Jackson's POV

Beep beep beep beep. "Ugh... Shut up!" I yell at the annoying machine. I really miss Lily and I just want to see her again. I turn on the tv because I am bored, and my eyes suddenly tear up when I see a story on the news. Teen Lily McCabe has been arrested for possession of a weapon, and is currently awaiting trial. She was seen running out of an alley with a handgun and was stopped by an off-duty police officer. We will have more on this story soon. I burst into tears when I see the mug shot of Lily, her face beaten and bruised, and I know  automatically, that she did nothing wrong. I know Lily, she wouldn't do something like that. I sniff back my tears and start calling for the nurse. She comes rushing into my room with a worried look on her face, but she calms down once she sees that I'm ok. "What do you need Jackson?" She asks me. "I need to see my girlfriend." I state, looking her straight in the eyes. "I'm sorry, but you know that you can't leave the hospital." She says. I mentally groan and I am becoming pissed off. "But, look. I'm fine, see?" I say as I stand up out of my bed. As I do, a splitting pain goes through my stomach, but I suck it up. I HAVE to see Lily. The nurse shakes her head and says, let me check with your doctor. "YES!!" I scream as I smile widely. She comes back after five minutes and says, get dressed, we're going to see your girlfriend. I smile as I grab my clothes and walk to the bathroom to change. When I'm finished, I walk out to my room and follow the nurse to her car. As we get in, I am overwhelmed with thoughts. Why did Lily have a gun? HOW did Lily have a gun? What happened to her face? I was ripped out of my thoughts when the nurse asked me, "Where is your girlfriend?" I look at her nervously before muttering, "Prison..." She looks at me in horror, but then turns back to the road and starts driving towards the prison. As we walk inside the prison, we ask to see Lily. The guard leads us over to a table outside, and the nurse says that she is going to leave us alone to talk. As I wait for Lily, my hands start getting sweaty, and I start breathing heavier. Then, I see a guard walking out, with a beaten up Lily following behind. She is handcuffed behind her back and my eyes start tearing up. She looks my direction, and her eyes go wide as she says, "Jackson?"
