I opened my eyes, the fresh smell of sea salt caught my attention and I returned my gaze back to notebook. I set it aside and laid back, not feeling inspired or in the mood to write how I feel at the moment. The sky was slowly clearing up from the dark clouds and peeks of sunlight shining through. For once in a lifetime, a smile formed on my lips.

The last time I smiled so happy was when I met her.

°Flashback°

It was dusk. A warm summer morning and I was staring down at the crystal river water. A grin approached and a girl stood besides me, giving me a nudge.

"Come on, Amelia." The girl said. "Let's jump. It's going to fun."

My eyes turned to her voice. You could pick her out of a sea of thousands talking at once. Her voice made pretty singers who sings pretty songs sound dull, everything in general sound ugly than her voice. "Okay, okay. I'm just nervous. Can't we get caught?" I asked, frightened if we do. "Not unless you hurry up." She nudged me again and I looked back at the water, adrenaline rushing through my body.

"5"

"Shh, I'm trying."

"4"

My body stood still.

"3."

"I'm gonna pee my pants."

"Amelia, you're wearing a bathing suit. Hurry up." The girl giggled. "2."

Oh god, here's goes nothing.

"1!!"

We both said and I grabbed her hand, as we jumped off the cliff. The water surround my body and I tried to held my breath. Underwater was a whole new world. I was the first to come up for air, breathing. The girl came up second and giggled. "You did it!" "I did!" I cheered and smiled, looking at her.

And then, at that moment, with the cold water clinging to my skin and the morning sun rising up behind the mountains, I started into her eyes and realized. I found someone who saw me as something beautiful, even if I was terrified of myself.
