Chapter Fourteen

They were not happy. But who could blame them when they were being blackmail by their own daughter. Of course I tried to take the easy way out and ask for those things. The dismissive tone from my father and laughter from my mother squash those sweet feelings. So instead I threatened to go to the press and offer a full interview about our family. I told them how I would talk about them being absentee parents as well as the truth about dad's affair. I savored the surprise look on my father's face and the scream my mother let out. They began to shout at me about "how can you do this" before turning on each other and claiming it was the other's fault.

Finally after much argument they agreed on getting me everything I asked for. The boat and helicopter would be waiting for me at my mansion. The keys to my mansion would be mailed overnight to me at school along with my weekend passes. My father offered to hire a driver for the helicopter but I told him I would find my own. I didn't need him checking into what I was doing with the helicopter, even though I had a feeling he still would. I would have to come up with something to throw his attention off of it. When everything was set, my mother told me she was disappointed in me and ended the call on her end. My father however, wasn't. He was proud that I was fighting dirty to get what I wanted. He just couldn't believe I was doing it to the family. As if he was any better.

Now, I only had one more thing to do. Cancel my date with Micah. This was going to be hard because I wanted more than anything to go on this date with him. I really liked him and I had no idea if I would ever have this opportunity again. Not to mention it would give Paige all the fuel she needs to turn him against me. Leaning against the outside of the boy's dormitory, I checked my compact mirror to make sure my face was clear. I had opted to walk to class with Yuri this morning so I could catch Micah first thing. I didn't want to ruin his day with this news, but I didn't want to postpone the inevitable.

Micah finally emerged out the dorms looking the same way he did when I first saw him. It amazed me how when it came to wearing his uniform, Micah dressed like a GQ model, but in regular clothes he looked like someone who would stand in a line to have Superman's autograph. Not that I didn't think Clark Kent wasn't hot. He was gorgeous. Well the actor Tom Welling is anyhow.

"Micah" I waved. He looked startled for a minute before smiling. His hair had a moist look to it that I figured had gotten wet in the shower. It made his hair seem even darker and made his dark eyes even sharper. "Can I walk you to class? I need to talk to you about something."

"Sure."

We walked beside each other enjoying the cool morning temperature before the heat from the sun finally took effect. Unlike other days of the week, many students seemed to be in a hurry to get to classes on Friday. I guess it was their way of trying to hurry up and get the day over with.

"So what is it that you needed to talk to me about?" Micah asked.

I licked my lips secretly enjoying the watermelon flavor. I didn't know how to put this which was actually kind of strange. I use to not have a problem blowing a guy off if I had other plans or someone better came along. But ever since I met Micah, he was changing me. I was becoming like every male character in these books when they meet their one true love. They would go from being a cold bad ass person to becoming soft and whining about how they want to protect or how they can't live without the main character. The only difference was I wasn't a male.

"I have to cancel our date tomorrow." Micah turned towards me, his brows dipping in confusion. I quickly hurried up to explain. "My parents need me to meet them in Washington to try on the dress for this charity event I got roped into. I told my mother I could try it on here but she insisted that she wanted to see it as well. Plus she wanted some girl time."
