This is Guren's pov of the last chapter aight
Guren Ichinose's point of view...
I'm rudely awaken by an annoying alarm.
The alarm, being my own, but still annoying nonetheless.
I frown at the time, but still push myself out of the bed.
3:55 AM / MON 1ST
I had told my squad to wake before dawn, as today we were to search for Shinya - it had become the first of the month tradition.
Even though, I really was losing hope.
After I finally brought myself to read Shinya's files, my heart broke. Everything that had happened to him whilst I was away was disgusting.
They had tested on him so many times - it was rumoured that you could hear him whispering to himself at night. His screams would echo down the hall whenever he was injected; partially due to pain, partially due to terror. I can't even imagine what it must've been like.
And, that's why I try so hard to find him.
It's why I spend almost every night researching the Seraph.
Once I find him, I'll have I chance to explain - he'll have a chance to aswell, even though I believe Kureto is the one that owes an explanation.
Even though, Kureto would never do such a noble thing - as, if he were to explain he would most likely have to apologise. In all the years that I've known him, he's never apologised for his actions; no matter how inhumane.
• 4:30 AM •
"Lieutenant Colonel, we're ready to go." Sayuri calls out, her and the other three members of my squad were waiting by the exit. Shinoa's squad weren't here today, as I didn't enjoy putting the stress on Shinoa. She always got so worked up when we couldn't find Shinya, I understand why - they both see eachother as blood relatives.
I rush towards the door, smiling at the four and then walking out.
"Today, we're going to search closer instead of further out. Maybe.. we will get lucky." I tell the group, who all nodded towards me in response.
We all group up, walking towards the city gates. Goshi yawns loudly, which causes me to raise a brow. "Mhm, I did say 'get an early night,' Goshi."
He groans in response, and we all exit the human territory. At that moment, we all split up.
I go further out, Mito and Goshi remain closest to the gates whilst Sayuri and Shigure both split up and searched whatever was in between.
We search for hours, and hours on end. I'm close to giving up until I hear the words that I've wanted to hear for the past few years.
"Lieutenant Colonel! I found him!"
I freeze, and at that moment the four of us rush towards Shigure.
Once I reach them, the four are stood in front of Shinya - I clear my throat, causing them to separate and let me through.
I look at the male in front of me. The one who used to radiate joy, he was beautiful - he was always happy, no matter what was currently happening.
That wasn't the man in front of me. He was skinny, pale, dark circles underneath his eyes. He looked like he'd been starved, and abused. He had dark, prominent markings overtaking one half of his body, and bright - overly vibrant - eyes.
This wasn't Shinya, it was the creation Kureto made to 'win the war.'
A demon, a seraph.
Shinya stares back at me, I take a deep breath before speaking.
"Are you going to come with us? Or, do we need to use force?"
Shinya pauses, his gaze going to the ground beneath him as he quietly spoke.
"I-I'll come."
At that moment, my squad put their weapons away. They all close in on Shinya as we make our way back towards the large gates.
"Don't worry, I'm not planning on taking you straight to the Hīragi's." I try to reassure him, because he honestly looks terrified.
He doesn't respond, and we walk the rest of the way in silence.
An awkward, spine chilling silence - as I knew that every move I made was being watched by his bright, glowing eyes.
Little did I know, he wasn't scared of the Hīragi's.
He was scared of himself.
A / N - Guess who's back 😎. Sorry I've been gone for so long omg, I low key forgot about this fic and I was too busy watching AHS and Breaking Bad. Hi hi hi hi.
