Amanda's POV

Sleep. I haven't slept in a few days to be honest with you. The rocking of the boat is the main cause of my sleep deprivation. For the first few nights it was soothing but now it's just sickening, and it doesn't help that we are literally at the bottom of the ship. Another thing that was really bothering me was my stomach. It feels like I haven't eaten in a few weeks when it's actually been only a few days but they must go weeks and that is beyond me how they do it! I just hope the girls and I can eat soon because we aren't used to this at all.

When the sunlight lightly shines down through the stairway I decide to get out of bed and go to the deck. As I get outside I get misted in the face with water and it feels so good. The cool breeze hitting my face and the scent of the ocean brings me to some peace. The sky is a gorgeous blue and there are some clouds in the sky. The clouds almost look as if someone has painted them into the sky. As I take in the view it soon dawns on me that this view will be the only thing I see for a long time..maybe for the rest of my life. The thought soon makes me sick to my stomach, or maybe that's just seasickness. I run to starboard and start coughing. Thankfully nothing comes out of my mouth so I turn to wear my back is resting on the rail of the ship. I massage my temples with my eyes closed and take deep breaths. The sound of loud footsteps makes me stop what I'm doing and I look at the source of the sound.

"What are you doing up so early?" Ashton asks. I don't want to tell him I'm seasick or that I couldn't really sleep because of how uncomfortable those beds are so I decide that lying would be best, but lying doesn't really go well for me on second thought lying would be bad. I tried lying once before so I could go out and see the neighboring kingdoms lantern festival but that didn't work out very well. I can feel his eyes burning into my soul. Nervously I lick my lips and start to play with the hem of this small top they gave me.

"I wanted to... get some fresh air" I say. That's partially true, but the truth is I just had to get out of that small enclosed space because 1) I am hungry, 2) I can't sleep down there where the boat is constantly rocking. He gives me a questioning look opens his mouth then closes it.

"Well since you're up here why don't we practice some sword fighting." he says. Ugh... sword fighting again. I did that yesterday and I'm still somewhat sore from it, but it only makes since to practice because if I'm going to be on this pirate ship for a while I'd might as well learn how to defend myself. "Or, if you're not up to that you could help me out with some things around the ship." I raise an eyebrow at him.

"Like what?" I cross my arm over my chest.

"Like you know swabbing the deck, helping me fish for food, um I don't know what else there is to do. I'm still the new guy and they don't tell me what all needs to be done unless it's urgent." He tells me. I nod and decide that sword fighting will be the best option. We get ourselves a sword and starts to teach me some more moves to block a hit. "Swing at me." he says. I stare at him.

"What?!" There's a pretty good chance of me hitting him. So I just stand there with my sword at my side. A look of annoyance quickly crosses his face but it then leaves and his face goes back to stern. "I said swing at me" He repeats as if I didn't hear him the first time. He says the same three words again but very slowly, in a way that you would talk to child to get them to understand you. Annoyed at him I snap back.

"I heard you the first time."

"Well then why aren't you swinging at me?" He asks with just an equal amount of annoyance in his voice.

"Well for one thing I'm inexperienced in this stuff and I could accidentally hit you." He rolls his eyes at this response.

"Listen dear, I've been doing this for years now and I've almost been killed many times. Would you like to know why I'm here today?" I can tell he's getting mad just by the tone in his voice, the sweet tone he had ten minutes ago is gone. "I learned how to block the swords that were swinging at me so trust me, anything you hit at me I can block." I feel myself getting aggravated as well. Trying to keep my ground right now is hard because he's one tick away from exploding. Ashton then picks up his sword and slowly start walking over to me. Out of fear I pick mine up. I close my eyes and swing. There's a loud clang and a snarky remark is followed. My sword his on his right side along with his sword. "I told you that I could block anything," I scowl at him "Now let's do that again. You try and do the things I taught you yesterday and I'll block your swings"
