Chapter 2

After my shower I went back to my room. I noticed that it was still only 5 am. I should get some sleep.

I lied down on the bed and in seconds, I was deep in sleep.

"Emily, get up it's almost time for our morning shift," I heard Lea shout. What? What time was it? I sat up and looked at my watch, 7 am. Two hours of sleep. Yay.

"You better be ready in 15 minutes," Lea said as she stood in my door. How did she get in here?

"I will be," I said and smiled a fake smile. She was so annoying. She scoffed and left.

I got up and looked through the drawers of the dresser. Black underwear and black dresses, nothing else. I guess they wanted me to wear that. I put the clothes on and slipped into the black flats. I combed through my dark straight hair, and went to the bathroom to brush my teeth.

A girl was already in there. She had long dark hair and was really pretty. When she noticed me she turned her head and smiled at me.

"Hi, I'm Nina, what's your name? You must be new since I haven't seen you before," she said and smiled brightly. I nodded and smiled back.

"Yeah I am, my name's Emma, nice to meet you," I reached out my hand for her to shake. We shook hands and then giggled. It felt weird meeting someone for the first time, while you're both brushing your teeth.

"Just FYI, you're not allowed to wear your hair down, only low bun or ponytail," Nina said, and put her own hair into a ponytail. I nodded.

"Can I maybe borrow a hair tie from you?" She nodded, and gave me one from her makeup bag.

"Actually, we all get some when we move here, there will be some in your dresser, but take this one from me," she said and smiled.

"Oh, sorry, but thanks," I laughed. I quickly put my hair in a low bun and checked to see if it was fine. It was kind of loose but it looked good enough.

"Are you ready for breakfast? We can sit together if you want? I heard you got Lea as a mentor, I know she isn't the cheeriest person to be around sometimes," I laughed and nodded. Nina laughed too.

"She's so pissed off," I said. After I had brushed my teeth we went to the kitchen.

It was apparently a shared kitchen between all of the maids working in the house. It was large with marble counters. This house really enjoyed marble.

Nina and I sat down. I got an approved nod from Lea. Nina giggled at that.

A plate of scramble eggs and toast was sat in front of me. It smelled delicious.

Nina and I both dug in.

"So what work were you assigned?" Nina asked with her mouth filled with toast.

"Uhm maid during the day and dealer at the casino at night," I said. She squealed and stomp her feet at the ground.

"Me to!" she said and hugged me.

"Oh wow, cool," I said surprised at her affection.

After breakfast Lea came to my side.

"It's time to go now, follow me," she said and walked off. Nina stood up from her chair.

"Wait, Lea, I can be Emma's mentor if you don't want to do it," Nina offered. Would she really do that?

Lea gave a nod and walked off. Nina squealed again. 

"Thank you so much for that," I said and embraced her in a hug. Nina hugged me back but quickly pulled back.

"Okay, it's 8 am, we have to get started now," she said and pulled me by my wrists.
